Personally, I love ‘em! Nice ones, of course. I especially love words and small symbols. I don’t have any myself (I think I change my mind way too much; that and the fact that I am petrified of needles!) but if I were to have “fantasy” ones, I think I’d like a Bible verse, and a little symbol here and there. I keep thinking a tiny anchor on my ankle would be really cute.
What do you think of tattoos? Do you have any yourself? Are there any meanings behind them? Do share, I’d really love to hear!

i love small tattoos and i am getting one that says “break on through” on my wrist this year. Still thinking of which font and how big but i’m deffinetly gonna get get it.
That sounds lovely! I love wrist tattoos. Maybe cursive would look really nice?
I guess it depends on who the person is who is to get a tattoo. I myself don’t have any, only played with the thought of having one. I have a friend who plans on getting a big one covering the side of her body. If I were to get a tattoo I’d keep thinking of what it would look like when I’m 60+. Skin do sag and the tattoo would sag with it. >.<
Ah yeah, sagging unfortunately can make tattoos look misshapen.
But for small ones and the location (for example wrists, ankles) it should be OK? Wrists don’t sag, right? Haha. (I HOPE NOT!)
I’ve a little tattoo of my star sign, behind my ear. People, can see it when I tied my hair back.. but most of the time it’s hidden.
Aw Lola that sounds amazing! I like that it’s a surprise now and again
Behind the ear is one of the locations of all my “fantasy” tattoos, I think the location is so pretty.
I’m not really a fan of tattoos! I don’t mind temporary ones, and think they look quite pretty, but injecting my body with ink is a really scary thought!
I would love to get a tattoo some day when I finally get the guts too considering how low my pain tolerance level is
I’ll probably get one with words or a quote that means something to me, and probably along my ankle
I have a tattoo of the infinity/mystic knot on the back of my neck, which isn’t always visible because I tend to wear my hair down, and a tattoo of a wing on my left ankle
I think it also depends, in a way- like a tattoo on the entire calf, while very nice, won’t be that practical for us ladies- what if we need to wear formal evening dresses? It would look very odd. Or an entire upper arm, for example.
I like them, especially the smaller ones
Though I probably wouldn’t get a tattoo for myself.
I haven’t got a tattoo because I’m too scared of needles lol, but I like small ones. I think they’re cute.
Oh I don’t have one yet!…but I’m going to get one soon on the inside of my wrist, a little star in white ink so it can go unnoticed.
I love them. I have 8 and am sure to get more. My husband has several as well. I have a couple of medium sized ones. I have some on my stomach, upper arm, lower back (before tramp stamps became popular), shoulder, upper back and wrist. They are all pretty easy to cover except the one on my wrist but I think that’s the most pretty of them all as its different colored stars but all of them have some meaning to me at least. I got the ones on my stomach when I thought I would never have kids…oops, I’m 6 1/2 months pregnant now but so far so good. No stretch marks and they look exactly the same so hopefully they won’t get too distorted. I like tattoos that mean something and aren’t just some stupid flash or silly thing on someone. I sometimes think people don’t remember that they are there for life, unless you go through laser treatments, but those are more painful than the tattoos themselves. Never get a significant other’s name on you though…that is the kiss of death for any relationship. I have some friends that are tattoo artists and they won’t even put a SO’s name on someone. My husband is already planning the tattoo he will get to represent our new daughter.
I love tattoos of quotes or words! I’m looking forward to getting one soon, but it’s a pretty tough decision to make for what you should get considering you’re going to have it for the rest of your life! Haha
I love symbolic tattoos. I have 8 sparrows on my back, had it done to signify my freedom when I turned 21, and it really means a lot to me. I would definitely love to get one scripture phrase on my collarbone or wrist.
p/s I think the anchor on the ankle idea is pretty neat. You should do it.
i have “la dolce vita” on my right hip and i love it, it means the sweet life, or the good life, and i got it because for awhile i was giving up on my dreams of going to school and getting my degree, i thought it was so much easier to just get a job and work away at it going as far as i could go without my degree, and becoming a stay at home mom, after about a year with that mentality i realized i was giving up on the dream i had my whole life of making it far in school and becoming a big time exec, i got the tattoo to remind myself not to give up on something that was challenging (like school) for something that was easy right now, because, in the end, what i want, is the good life
That’s my friend Jess on the bottom lefthand corner – she also has “happiness” on her wrist.
I have been planning on getting a seashell tattoo for years – I love the beach it’s my happiest place. I should just go for it hey! I also want to get “love yourself” on me, somewhere, to remind myself to do just that
What bible verse would you get? I agree small discreet tattoos are the cutest.
I love tattoos!
I only have one at the moment, but I have plans to get several more. The one I have is a “luckenbooth” (a heart with a crown on it, like a claddagh but without the two hands to hold it) on my left hip. Above that is written “invictus,” which is Latin for undefeated. Fairly obvious meaning!
I want to get a Neil Gaiman quote from Coraline next. She says, “When you’re scared, but you do it anyway, that’s brave.” I’m thinking of putting it on my wrist or possibly my shoulder blade. I’ve had depression and anxiety issues all my life, and it just really means a lot to me. When I read that on the page, I was like, “Whoa.”
Recently my mum suprised us all, by getting a tattoo and has just gone for two more! There only smalI and I think their beautiful and already mean a lot to her! Tattoos always seem to have a story behind them! And I love how artistic they are!
x
I have 11 and once was very into getting heavily tattooed (full sleeves and back done) but now Im 32 and I will probably have just my right shoulder done and leave it at that.
I think if they blend well with your body and done beautifully then they are great. Tattooing has become an art form now with most tattooists being excellent artists in their own right. People are much more discerning these days since it has become so popular.
I got a traditional bamboo tattoo in Thailand, of an elephant with a Buddhist prayer inside it, my own idea, hand drawn by the tattoo artist. It is my favourite tattoo and site happily on the right side of my lower back, its quite large, about two palms big and just black lines, no shading.
I have two small tattoos, a star on my ankle and the Penguin books symbol on my wrist…I really love them. I’m probably going to get another one soon, a small, delicate horseshoe on the inside of my arm. I’m not into the big coloured sleeves or collars myself, but I’ve seen them look amazing on other people.
My thinking is, small symbols and phrases aren’t going to become outdated in the same way patterns will- I think for tattoos to look good the wearer has to embrace them and work with them, and if you change your mind later about having a retro style, the sailor jerry tattoos are going to be difficult to blend into something else! But even then, they can be a great reminder of a certain time in your life.
The one thing I don’t like about them is how judgemental they make other people. I’ve had a university lecturer literally look at my wrist, shudder, then turn around and tell other people how much she hates tattoos. Which I think is just plain rude. I wouldn’t go around telling people how much I hate their outfit!
I have a black star on each hip (just the outline) which actually ended up being a lot harder to do than I thought it was going to be.. because I never realized how uneven my hip bones are! I just got a blue anchor that covers the entire top of my left foot, with a banner across it that says “Sink or Swim” this past October when my boyfriend (now fiance) got to come home on leave from the Navy. I personally love tattoos, but I understand they’re not for everyone. I love seeing other peoples’s tattoos because a lot of them are SO beautiful and creative. I love mine, and I definitely plan on getting more.. I understand that not everyone appreciates them the way I do, but it’s irritating when random strangers come up to me and ask me why I would do that to myself, or they assume that tattoos go hand-in-hand with alcoholism and drugs. It’s ridiculous!
I love tattoos too, and I did ever think of having one. But just a simple, words and small symbol like that. I like all your tattoo photos you posted. Nice n simple it goes. If I could, I would like to go for a ‘star symbol’ at my ear area, behind my neck, on the ankle would be great too. And on the back of shoulder!
and maybe some words from my fav paramore song “if only time flew like a dove” lol
oh my goodness! i looooooove tattoos an gauges! all of it! my mom hates it and says i cant ever get a tattoo and i cant get gauges till after she has her wedding pictures :p silly mommas. anyways i think tattoos are great! even the drunken mistakes are funny and hey! great convo piece! im deff gonna get tattoos!:))
i don’t like tattoos. the really pretty ones are nice but they look bad when you get old. and it’s hard to find some really pretty ones. my cousin got one that’s supposed to be doves flying across her back and they look terrible. they look like geese. plus i can’t stand the permanence of them! i got my ears pierced and regretted it haha
I absolutely love tattoos. Of course I believe in getting a tattoo that is actually special to you and means something, because tattoos that you just “like the look of” are really dumb, and you will always regret that later. I also don’t think you girls should really care what you are going to look like when you’re 60+, you’re probably only in your 20′s. Live in the now! That’s the only way to truly be free and be yourself.
I love them
I have 4; heart on my back, 4-leaf clover on my foot, Jesus fish on my wrist, and an anchor behind my ear. I want more, but I feel like I’m running out of places to hide them!
I have 8 tattoos they all have special meanings. My body is my canvas for my life story…but i only share the parts that have molded me into who i am today. i have a group of 6 flowers on my right ankle they represent my mother, father, brother, and his three children. I have a very large corset tattoo on my entire right thigh….the ribbon looks like it is going thru my skin which is for the heart break of all my past loves, it goes thur my skin 4 times which is for every time a man said he loved me and lied! I have a a evil cherry skull on my left thigh for a broken friendship that ill never get back. I have a star on my left hip with my sons name in it!! then on my left rib cage i have a Latin phrase mean truth love and unity for the man that I am engaged to. he has shown me that two hearts can come together and love one another forever. also i have my entire spine tattooed with stars and kanji peace love and destiny….this phrase has always meant a lot to me because when i was young i had a friend who always told me these three things were what God would give me when i was old enough to understand them, and then i have my lower back tattooed with a butterfly and tribal…this is one of my first tattoos when i was younger…not my favorite but i don’t hate it. my butterfly is red and this is for my young spirit….i was always wild and outgoing when i was younger so i guess this was my way of showing it.
I got a tattoo… one big dragon on my back and tribal on my back’s waist. it looks good – and I don’t regret having it. We only live once in life anyway so why not? Having tattoo doesn’t mean you are a bad girl =)
Honestly, I’m not a huge fan of tattoos and I never wished to have one but I think temporary tattoos will be good. I’m scared of needles!
i love tattoos, but like one of them mentioned, they should have meaning. I don’t have any at the moment cause i feel like it would be selfish since i need money for so many things. (i’m graduating highscool in 3months 18yrs old) But someday i’ll get some. i’ve been thinking of getting a yin sign somehwere, my boyfriend the yang. We are very differently similar, we balance each other out. For two people with shitty parents we sure are good with parenting eachother:)
whoops, i meant highschool
They are horrible! Today by the way I found a video on YouTube. There guy is cooking – looks like he have z dirty arms. I think it looks bad. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U_OvPwneTpI&list=UUP5wUzxmU5CdaEG8ofwQTuQ&index=2&feature=plcp
