Viva Italia!

My family and I visit family in Denmark almost every year, and normally while we’re there we kinda stop over in other countries, since Europe is so far and we might as well since we’re in the area!  My favorite country, in the whole wide world, though? Italy. Today we were talking about stopping over in Italy again next year, which made me reminiscence like hell! Last summer, I had my longest holiday ever – I think it was a month long. I went to Rome, Milan, London and Copenhagen and had the best time of my life.

My favorite bit of course was Italy, though I loved visiting my best friend in London and family in Copenhagen. This was my 3rd time in Italy, second time in Milan (favorite place in the world) and my first in Rome, which is spectacular – seriously, nothing beats Italy in my eyes. Here are some of my holiday snapshots of Italy in Summer 2009…

What’s your favorite country?

Hotel lobby for my hotel in Rome – so beautiful! The rooms were so retro, loved it!

Italy is amazing! Rome is beautiful, but my favourite place when I visited Italy has to be Venice. Going there is like escaping to this surreal, dream-like place. Really quite an experience! Did you head to Venice while you were in Italy? if you didn’t, you should! :)

I did find the Leaning Tower of Pisa to be extremely toy-like though, haha!

Hey Ri!

OMG VENICE! Yep, the first time I was in Italy I went to Venice. I can’t remember too much because I was 9 or 10 years old, but from what I can remember – the gondolas, the water, beautiful buildings, it seems wonderful. I hope to go back there someday, but it’s quite romantic, no? Seems like the perfect couple’s retreat… should go there for a honeymoon! :-P

I love Vietnam!

And girl how tall are you???

Renee November 14, 2010 at 17:36

Aw Mary I haven’t been to Vietnam (yet, I hope!) but it looks and sounds wonderful! :)

I’m 5’9″! What about you?

Holy fudge you’re tall, woman!

I’m a measly 5’6 :-S.

And Vietnam is beautiful. I’ve only been to Ho Chi Minh (formerly Saigon). Really gorgeous city and it was relatively un-Westernized, but I haven’t been back since 2006 so I’m not so sure right now. I have also been to Bangkok and although it’s also a gorge city I just didn’t love it as much as I did HCM.

And woman please! :-P 5’6″ is nowhere near “measly”, you’re tall as well!

I found your blog through the Alexa Chung beauty post you had and sorta explored around the site. I was actually in Italy this past summer and absolutely loved it there. Venice was my favorite city and Rome is a close second. I would like to go back to Italy sometime soon!

I spent two weeks in Italy in July! It was a lovely holiday!
You should visit Capri, which is a hydrofoil ride away from Naples.. That place is paradise!!

Gorgeous holiday photos! I’d love to see more of Italy. I’ve only been once with school when we went to the south of France and popped over the border to Italy for the afternoon!

Favourite country would have to be Singapore! I love Britain, but it can be so cold and miserable here! Sg is like my home away from home – sun and so much yummy food!

Hey girl! I’ll be going to Rome in 14 days time for my honeymoon (getting married next weekend!!). I’m clueless on what kinda clothes to pack. Is their summer there the similar climate as here in Singapore? Also, call me vain (haha!), but I wanna look good as it’s my honeymoon and I’ll be snapping a lot of pictures (who doesn’t when you’re in Rome? :p), so care to share any beauty tips while you’re on holiday?

Looking forward to your reply ;)

ps: I <3 your blog!

I can help you maybe with the clothes since i’m Italian. it’s gonna be HOT HOT HOT, 30° at least, and it’s not very dry,i usually feel like i’m melting down in summer in Italy :D maybe bring a light sweater and a pair of sneakers in case of rain, but I would bring shorts and sandals for sure, you’re gonna walk a lot and I personally can’t walk with sneakers during summer :D if u need any other tip feel free to ask :)
