When my mom was fixing up the Christmas tree this week (we had already done it up, but it wasn’t “perfect”, she said); she threw her hands up in the air and sighed, “Why is Christmas so stressful?!”. As you can see, I got my drama-queen tendencies from her (I mean, she was just re-arranging the tinsel); but I totally get her: this season is stressful.
Whether you’re entertaining guests (or making a long trip back home), doing last minute Christmas shopping, or just stressing over the fact you have to cook 3 turkeys in one day (!!!), it is quite a stressful season. So stop thinking about your turkey for one moment ladies, because here are 5 ways to relax amidst all the stress.
1. Take a Walk
When it gets too much, remove yourself from it all and take a nice walk. The weather is nice and cool right now (granted it isn’t raining), so it’s lovely walking around your neighborhood this time of the year. Better yet, go to the Botanical Gardens and really be immersed with nothing but nature.
2. Get a Massage
One of my favorite things to do, ahem. Massages in Singapore are a plenty – from Thai, to Swedish, to Balinese, that’s the plus side of being in such a cosmopolitan city! They can be kinda (really) expensive though, so my best advice is to check out Groupon, which has some excellent deals (up to 70% off sometimes!). Just head over to their website page massage Singapore and you’ll be all set. Even better if they have a 2-for-1 price – you can treat your friend who I am sure is just as stressed!
3. An afternoon at the Spa
If you’re a beauty girl like me, do yourself a favor and check into a spa. There are countless of them, do a simple Google spa Singapore search and look through! Or again, check out Groupon for some cool deals. The best ones in my option are those completely out of the city – think Dempsey or Tanglin. Or better yet, an outdoor spa. My picks? Start with some sort of body treatment, wash up, and then finish off with a hydrated facial.
4. Take A Bubble Bath
Pretty self explanatory, no? This reminds me of the Friends episode where Monica showed Chandler how to “really” take a bath and he was hooked. Warm water, bubble baths (Philosophy makes the most yummy-smelling ones), bath salts, lit candles and relaxing music… seriously, what is better?
5. At-home mani/pedi
Lock yourself in a room with nothing else but the following: some good music, a nice comfy couch and nail polish… lots of nail polish. Manicures are seriously relaxing; especially with the whole “wait 15 minutes between each coat”. In that 15 mins, lie back, close your eyes and take a mental vacation.
