Say Hello to the Perfect Summer Nail Color

ORANGE! And yay for Summer – orange you glad for some fun in the sun? (Oh yes I went there, sorry. It’s ain’t easy being this cheesy. ARGH I CAN’T STOP!) Summer is my favorite season, which doesn’t make sense because it’s all we ever have here in Singapore. Still, I think it’s more of the fact that it’s the middle of the year. For some reason I always have this idea that the first half of the year is “work”, and the second half is “play” ’cause of all the birthdays (any other September babies?), and celebrations like Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, etc. So with that being said; IT’S PLAY TIME!

Anyway! I have been so in love with the orange trend going around, and when I was bumming around the drugstore last month, I saw this beautiful orange polish from Sally Hansen and immediately snapped it up! The color is Snappy Sorbet from their Insta-Dry Fast Dry Nail Color line, and it is such a fun, bright, cheery orange. (The pic above doesn’t do it justice, it’s a bit brighter in real life.) The formula is not as great as other Sally Hansen polishes (it chips quite fast) but since it’s one of those of-the-mood colors, I suppose you’d change it regularly anyway.

What’s on your nails this summer? I can’t recommend orange enough – there’s something so HAPPY!!! about it. I’m obsessed! Next on my list is yellow. :)

That looks great! I do love a bright orange or coral for summer. I’ve got a couple of favourites from Bourjois & Revlon but can’t remember their names!

I love pale pastel-ly & candy colours for warmer weather too. Revlon Minted is a big fave (still haven’t got round to picking up Essie Mint Candy Apple!), as well as OPI Mod About You (perfect summer pedicure colour).

I don’t think I have any yellow polishes, but I’d love to give it a try too. China Glaze Lemon Fizz has been on my wish list for a while! (I’m a bit nail obsessed, in case you couldn’t tell!)

I couldn’t agree more, orange is so much fun! I usually stick to quite a monochromatic wardrobe so bright nailpolish is a must, especially in summer! I love Barry M’s Block Orange, it instantly brightens my mood (plus, it looks a lot like Dior’s Aloha but for a fraction of the price!).

Summer is definitely the time for bright festive colours – my nails are bright yellow at this moment! I’m usually a black/navy nail polish kinda girl but this time i thought, what the heck, it’s summer, let’s go all out yellow! :)

And I agree that while it’s technically “summer” all yr round in Malaysia too, the middle of the year spells fun for me too because it’s when I get off uni and have my long summer break! :)

Orange is such a happy colour. I like your lip colour too. What is it? I am looking for something like that.

I’m wearing Kelly by Zoya on my nails right now. I love that colour! I’ve been looking for that kinda corally colour but can’t quite find the perfect colour that suits my olive skintone.

I am loving Aloha by Dior from their Summer 2011 collection.
It’s a super vibrant orange which actually looks good on my skin tone =)

Cheryl — I ADORE Revlon’s Minted! Isn’t it gorge?! Reminds me of mint chocolate ice cream, yum! Pastels are so cute for Summer as well. And no worries about the nail polish obsessed… I am totally as well! Just bought a lilac color and ordered a pale yellow online… and I WANT MORE! Gonna Google “Mod About You” now, it sounds nice!

Anna-Sophie — Same here! My wardrobe is very boring and is only black and white, so fun, bright nail colors liven things up – the perfect accessory. ;) I wish we had Barry M here, I hear so much good things about it.

Aney — Thanks Aney! Pretty picture. :)

Gio — I know! Such a happy color.

Ri — You and I are twins, Ri! I usually only do black and navy as well (and gray). But yeah, Summer is just TOO fun and needs some bright color. :) Enjoy your Summer break! Any fun plans? x

Dorothea — YAY! What date? I’m on the 19th. x

Lyndy — Hey Lyndy! I actually don’t have anything on my lips there – I think it might be the computer’s lighting that is making my lips pink! The closest I can think of is Clinique’s Chubby Stick in Whoppin’ Watermelon, it’s a very pretty sheer pink.

Nina and Joey Chong — I’ve always wondered if nail polish *must* suit skin tones. Do you think it’s a must? I should try to research into that. Normally I just buy a color and that’s it! However now that I think about it, I’ve had a lot of “misses” with color… I wonder if I had gotten a different shade it would’ve suited me better. Ah… RESEARCH TIME! Thanks for the food for thought, ladies!

Oh ok. Yay can’t wait to get to a Clinique counter to check it out.
I am putting together shades for a “no make up” make up look which I realized
uses more make up than I thought!

Haha, yes! They say “natural” makeup is much more work than normal makeup. Have you tried Bobbi Brown’s Tinted Lipbalms? They are SO pretty and gives just the amount of color, not to mention really moisturizing. It’s a bit on the expensive side for a lipbalm though. :/ I have one called Citrus that is a sheer coral color, but from what I can remember they do a pale pink as well. If not check around the Bobbi Brown counter, she’s the queen of “natural” makeup. Good luck! xx

I have that same polish! I love it! :) But my nail trend for this summer is Sorbets! Like baby blues, lighter yellows, lavenders, and corals! The new O.P.I Pirettes of the Carribean Collection is too cute for words! I want them all!!
