Rosebud Salve is a true classic. From its all-American colors and iconic tin, this should be every girl’s multi-purpose, must have product. It is hands down, my fave beauty product. (OK I lie. I also love moisturizer and eyeliner the best. But it’s definitely Top 3!)
I first tried Rosebud’s Brambleberry, another ‘flavor’ from the Rosebud family at Sephora last year and absolutely loved it. However, I still wanted to try the original so I ordered it online some time back and I. Am. In. Love. There are no words that can describe this product, except that my lips are always smooth and moisturized. I also tried rubbing some Rosebud on some brittle, torn nails of mine (the result of picking black nail polish off, not good!) and Rosebud instantly moisturized my nails and they look brand new. Basically, it’s a miracle product in a jar.
Like I wrote in the Brambleberry review, this is the only thing that really helps my dry, chapped lips – it is amazingly moisturizing and has been the best thing I’ve ever tried on my lips. It is also said to help aid minor burns, cuts, diaper rash and blemishes – in other words, it’s like Vaseline’s cooler younger sister. The only ‘con’ I can see with this product is that it’s in a tin, and I am beyond lazy to apply it with my fingers. However, the tin (and its design) is what makes it so iconic, so I’ll have to let that one go.
If you’re planning to get this product; which I hope you find works as well for you as me, just remember to not leave it in any hot areas. I once left mine in the car and opened the tin to see a sticky, wet, dripping mess!
Have you tried Smith’s Rosebud Salve? If you haven’t, I highly recommend it!

I’m so glad you posted this! I’ve been wanting to try it for months because I had heard about it a few times and I have the most hydration-deficient lips in the world (I apply lip balm at least every hour or two). I’m convinced. So thank you!
Go, go, go!
It really is great. Let me know how it works for you.
Oooooh, yes! I love this stuff! I have this one and the strawberry one, and I love them both. Perfect when you need something that’s nice and moisturizing, but not sticky or over-the-top color-wise! LOVE it.
Principessa Grassa recently posted…Kids These Days
Ooh, I’ll have to try out the Strawberry one next!
I have one of these, it’s SO good. I love it. That one and the EOS lipbalms.
It is! What is EOS though? Haven’t heard of them…
EOS are weird shaped lip balms. It’s in an egg shape and its like a smaller egg shaped balm when opens. Awkward to apply because it looks like you’re mauling it. It’s good for when your lips are already in good condition and maintaining but not for repairing in my opinion.
Lovelovelove, I’m planning on getting one the next time I’m at Sephora.
Great plan!
I LOVE THIS STUFF!!!!!
Me too!
I think all of us do, judging by all the positive comments!
yeah i have one of these and it’s truly amazing, the tin kinda sucks though just because it not so easy to put in my jeans. i also tried it on my brows and they looked thicker. yeah although i do hate when i get some in my mouth, tastes nasty. LOL
Haha I totally get what you mean – it’s too big for my jeans pocket as well and it makes such a freaky looking outline on your pocket, haha. I haven’t tasted it yet though!
ooh! I like this, it keeps my lips well moisturised in cold dry airconditioned rooms. I have a problem with the tin packaging though, so I have moved on to tube lipbalms like lanolips. I think there’s a tube version for rosebud salve out there. Tin is probably more value for money though, it takes forever to finish it up. I must say that it is most wonderful for nasty cuts I’ve gotten in my clumsy moments. I’m so grateful to it.
Oh I’d love to try the tube version, though like you said the tin is more value for money – it lasts for SO long.
I am such a lip balm addict. It’s more of a necessity than a want actually since I have really dry lips (which I got from my dad). I remember having my first lip balm in the 1st or 2nd grade since my lips would just dry up everyday! I’ve been wanting to try this for so long. As soon as I read this entry, I jumped onto eBay and bought a tin of the minted variety right away! That picture just made me want to try this even more!
Francesca I’m so glad you found this review useful. You know, I really cannot recommend this product enough and I support it 100%. I really hope that it works for you as well as it did for me! I have semi dry lips too, but while they’re not too bad, all the lipbalms I’ve tried in the past really just doesn’t cut it. Rosebud really is great and it makes your lips look ridiculously smooth. Let me know what you think of it, OK?
I love this stuff! I have used it since I was a little girl because my grandmother used it, now I keep about two things at all times, and I am never without some in my purse! It’s the only thing that will moisturize my impossibly dry lips and cuticles! I use it on flaky skin, eyebrows, it will probably even remove eye makeup like a makeup removing oil. Anyway, thanks for sharing because it is a must try/have product!
Aw that’s so cool how your grandmother uses it as well! It’s a real classic.
I usually don’t like lip balms with petroleum jelly but I really like this range, having tried their Brambelberry. Problem is, I still have a lot unused.
I don’t like Vaseline for my lips either but I really love this one as well
Really love this review!
Is this retailing at Sephora’s Singapore?
It sure is, Cris! My friend just got one some time ago after my recommendation as well. I hope you like it as well!
Ive been wanting to try this for so long!I hope it works better than Kiehl´s lip balm which I bought because of the great reviews, but it´s actually awful.
Deb, I too heard so much about Kiehl’s lipbalm but when I tried it out I really didn’t like it… Try out Rosebud if you can, it’s really great!
where can I get this product? Is it available in SG? and how much is it? I’ve tried a ton of lipbalm of diff brands(the ones you can get at Watsons/Guardian) ,the one that I thought was really goood was Palmer’s Cocoa butter formula(and they smell delish!!)…
Yes yes and yes! It’s about $14 at Sephora
Burts Bee’s is the best ever, and it’s in a tube, and also only about $4 a tube! It’s very moisturizing also
love it. I have never tried this but I don’t like the tin
