Smells Like Teen Spirit

Even though Dolce and Gabbana’s Light Blue was my very first perfume (and forever first love), once that bottle finished, I moved on for a while. The main reason was that I was in high school and could not afford spritzing a hundred dollar bottle every morning, and two – Light Blue opened me up to the wonderful world of fragrance and I wanted to experiment! So when I was in Guess one day (I always stock up on my black skinny jeans there, they’re the best), I saw that they released their newest fragrance, Guess by Guess
. I was so attracted to the bottle – it was really flashy and in-your-face, but I kinda loved it. And when I tried out the scent, I loved it even more. Guess by Guess became my high school scent and when I found it in my mom’s cupboard the other day, I fell in love once again.

…The memories that the scent immediately conjured in my head was incredible. I suddenly had flashbacks of walking down the empty school halls (I’d skip class and take walks around the school; weird), the craziness that was our lunch table, my BFF Christine and I spitting water everywhere, the stupid boyfriend who was cheating on me but I refused to believe it… ugh I miss high school! It was so bad and so good.

What was your high school scent? And what were you like in high school? Any funny stories to share? I’ve got plenty, don’t get me started… :-P

Haha, I did that too, I’d ask if I could go to the toilet and then just walked around for a bit :p

As to perfume, I love natural far more than perfume smell – for myself and for others. If I do wear a perfume, it’s something very light. I do love Coco Mademoiselle an awful lot though, but the price …

Hahaha I think it’s cause it’s so damn boring sitting in a classroom? I could never sit still for that full hour…

How much is Coco Mademoiselle? It’s such a classic and I’ve never seen it around but I haven’t actually tried it out! What does it smell like? xx

I’ve only gotten into wearing perfume the last few years! Before that it was those awful body sprays! For just everyday wear I just use a bit of Next perfume (it’s a shop in the UK that has it’s own perfume line) but I do loove my bottle of Coco Mademoiselle too! But only for best :P :)

Xxxx

Ah, another Coco fan! I need to try it out at the store, I really have no idea what it smells like!

What sort of scents do you like? :) I’ve heard of Next but I didn’t know they had their own perfume, that’s so cool! (Ohh I just thought of something – Topshop should bring out their own perfume! That would be awesome.)

I like the Next perfumes too, they don’y break the bank which is always a plus! The first perfume I ever tried was one my dad bought for my mum and i was like 8years old, i think it was called Clean, and it had an amazing fresh fragrance, I havn’t come across the brand or anything that has a similar ‘fresh’ smell since, but i was searching online a week ago and ordered a bottle of their ‘warm cotton’ because it looks like the same one my mum had back then, I can’t wait to get it through the post now, bet mum would be ecstatic too, she loved it :D
I’m using a few perfumes at the moment, britney spears’ radiance (i don’t buy celebrity perfumes but this one actually smells really nice) Monsoon (another store in the UK which has its perfume line by the same name) and a fendi perfume. I also sometimes mix and match my perfumes to create my own, i just spritz two similar smelling perfumes on and you have a whole new fragrance!

Oh what does Britney’s Radiance smell like? Her bottles are always so cute. I remember trying out one of her fragrances but it was so sweet! Can’t remember which one though, it was a small roundish pink bottle. Curious was really lovely though, I think half the girls in my high school wore that haha.

Ah! A lot of my friends used White Musk as well! And Cool Water is SUCH a classic. I think a lot of guys wore the male version… ah I am loving this discussion, I want to go back to high school now :D

I was terrible with perfume in my early years of High School.
The thing is I just did not want to smell bad (teen insecurities :p) so I would wear tons of strong perfume and people would gag if they stood near me.My entire bottle was finished within a year.
I quite like ‘Petite Cherie’ by Annick Goutal but it’s supermegaexpensive for me.I was lucky enough to get it as a gift from a friend.
My favourite will always be ‘Daisy’ by Marc Jacobs…so fresh,so happy.
Oh,and,I just remembered that when I was younger,I wanted to grow up and make a perfume that smelled like baking chocolate chip cookies. Haha.

Oooh chocolate chip cookies, I want a perfume like that as well! However it might make you crave cookies too much? Haha.

Have you tried Daisy’s Oh So Fresh? It’s really pretty xx

Back in high school I received Burberry Brit for my birthday (August 5th :D back in 2007 Junior year) it was my staple and i would not leave home without spraying it on and i would touch up after gym. Too bad it only lasted 8 months and i had to stop buying it cause its 80USD and at that time i was too broke to fork over that amount of cash just to smell good :(
When I was in high school, I had friends of almost every ethnicity (White, Black, Asian-Chinese, Vietnamese, and Korean, Italian, Caucasian, French, and British) and its like an escalator system- you see or know them from middle school and you go through high school and college with (basically i was stuck seeing some people i did not want to see :/. I remember cutting classes just to see my favorite teachers when they had free period I was a care-free high schooler who roamed with my friends from one place to another. :D

Aw Courtnay Burberry Brit is a classic – I remember smelling it at the store once. The bottle is so beautiful, isn’t it? If I can remember correctly the scent is quite powdery?

Ugh I can imagine being stuck with people you don’t like! I remember after junior high I moved to a new high school, but then I saw that some of my old school mates (who I didn’t like at all) were there and I was like uuuugh go away! Luckily it was a much bigger school so it was easier to avoid them. :-P But I know how you feel… just avoid them the best you can xx

@ Julia

Oh my god! I’m in highschool right now going into my 5th year there ( we skip the 4th year as its optional) I wear White Musk EVERYDAY! But since I’ve run out I’ve been wearing Cool Water for men :) They are both my favourite fragrances.. not too over powering. 95% of the girls in my school wear Brittany Spears’ perfume I know there’s a few different ones but you can almost always recognize it by the sweet sticky smell. Not my cup of tea! :P

I’m not so much of a crazy student as some of you were, I just daydream for hours on end.I’m always in my own little world lol :)

Omg casey – Britney’s perfume are reeeally sweet aren’t they?! Not really my taste either but her bottles look pretty cute!

Oh and I’m with you on the daydreaming. I’d always choose the seat at the back next to the window so I could look out and daydream (and cut my split ends LOL) xx
