On Thursday I finally met up with Roseanne, who came back from London, yay! She’s probably my closest blogging friend and it was nice to catch up after many months. I always let my friends choose where we eat (because if I had it my way, I’d just choose McDonald’s since I’m so clueless with food) and she recommend Saveur, a cute little French restaurant at Purvis Street. It was lunchtime, and the place was packed – this is the 2nd “part” of the restaurant, the first part was completely full. Seems like a really popular place!

Again, since I know nothing about food and am not a foodie; Roseanne recommended everything. The appetizer was the pasta; and I did freak out seeing those little prawns… it reminded me of my pet sea-monkeys back in middle school, ha! The rest was pork mince and it was actually really delicious! I’ll definitely be back for that.

Roseanne had the “Duck” (very simple titles on their menu!) which consisted of a duck leg, homemade mashed potato all infused in “orange natural jus”; and I had some to try and it too was great! However I have duck every Christmas so I’m not that fond of duck (why is it that even if you only eat it once a year, you feel like you eat it too much?!) so I went with the Beef tenderloin with potato au gratin. I sound like a broken record, but it was also great.

Last but not least, our dessert – this was the Cookies and Milk dessert, but because I am slightly lactose intolerant we opted out of the milk. Roseanne explained that they cover it in this milky foam so that you can’t see the contents of your dessert so it’s kinda like a “blind test”. The peanut butter ice cream was smooth and yummy and there was cracking candy too – remember those from your childhood?! Really fun.
Overall, I had a great time trying out some new “foodie” things, and Saveur is affordable too. Which is really important for me; eating out can get expensive! But we had a nice great lunch and I’d definitely recommend trying Saveur out. Roseanne is a regular, and I’ll be back for sure.
Saveur is located at 5 Purvis Street #01-04 Talib Court.

The food looks amazing! Haha, you might be the only singaporean that’s not a foodie!
Haha I know, I am such a disgrace :p I’ll get there eventually!
Hi! I went to try it out after reading it on your blog and it was absolutely delicious plus value for money. The winners are definitely the foie gras, pasta appetiser (it was so good i felt that the portion was too small!) and the duck confit. the chicken and rice was a tad disappointing with an “eek unfresh” aftertaste. That being said, I was so impressed that I will go back again this week if I have the chance. Great post, Renee :)
