So tween king and queen (Justine Bieber and Taylor Swift), both released perfumes this year; both their 3rd… and it’s time for a review!
Taylor Swift ‘Taylor’ perfume
Now, I really like Taylor’s music; but I don’t really know much about her (er, except her whole dating life); so when she said that this fragrance was more “her” (hence calling it Taylor); and less about telling a story (like her previous two), I wasn’t sure what that meant. So I’ll have to go with what I see, and I see Taylor as a nice, fun-loving young lady who’s incredibly talented. And I think this fragrance captures that perfectly. Sure, it is the usual celebrity scent in that it’s a little sweet, and like her previous two, there is still a lot of berry and fruity notes in it; but still there is a maturity about it – I can’t describe it, but it smells like “grown up fruity”. I can see this being a hit amongst the late teens, early-to-mid twenties young woman (phew, so I’m still in the age group!) and out of all three, I like this one the best.
I was reading reviews and they all claim there is something very familiar about it, but to me this was totally unexpected – a mature fruity scent. Nothing I’ve smelt before, that’s for sure. Taylor’s perfumes are really becoming some of the best celebrity scents and I look forward to see what she comes out with next; hopefully though, the next one would have a better bottle! (The scent is wonderful but the only thing I dislike about is that I’m not really a fan of the bottle). Like her previous scents, Changi Airport is the first to house Taylor’s scents and you can get it at their perfume department. If you’re a fan of Taylor, it’s a must-have, but if you’re also a fan of a girly, fruity scent – without the overly, headache-inducing sweetness – I think you’ll love this as well.
Justin Bieber ‘The Key’ perfume
And now, Mr. Biebs. To be honest, I am not sure what he’s up to – I am not into celebrity gossip (unless it’s in my face, then I’d probably read it), but I can only assume Bieber’s perfumes are doing well since this is his 3rd. The Key is marketed as the most mature perfume out of all his perfumes, a more mature, sweet, fruity scent (which is why I wanted to review these two scents together, they seem to have the same vibe about them!). And you know what? It’s exactly that. If anything, it’s even more mature than Taylor; a little more womanly than young girl, and I think this would actually be great for a woman of any age. (If you can get over that you’re wearing a perfume by Justin Bieber, although when it comes to perfume, I don’t really judge. If it’s good, it’s good!). The scent starts off with a juicy fresh burst of berry, but there is a musky base to it, making it a little less “fruit juice” but more of a deep, intense fruit punch – if that, of course, makes any sense. You can grab this new scent at any Sephora outlets; as well as selected department stores.
Meanwhile, I can’t really decide which one I like better out of the two. Although this review is not to compare – I just wanted to review them side-by-side as they are similar in many ways; I’d say if you’re looking for young and fun, try Taylor. But if you’re still young and fun but also want a scent that’s mature and a little more sexy, try out The Key.
So tell me guys – who do you like best? Taylor or Justin?
