Ran out of shaving cream? Try this.

October 9, 2009

Take a leaf out of my cheap (but resourceful) book and use your regular hair conditioner as shaving cream. You’re already in the tub, right? I read this tip in a magazine ages ago and this is what I’ve been doing since the beginning of time. (OK, since 14). The conditioner softens the hair so it’s easier to shave off and makes legs feel amazingly smooth and silky after.

Genius I say! Has anyone tried this before?

haha I quit buying shaving cream a while ago so I use conditioner when I shave now. I actually like it a lot better!

Same here, Mary! Actually I dry shave which is horrible but I’m just so lazy :-P But when I do do it ‘properly’ I use conditioner too. I definitely like it better too :)

Hey cool! My dad doesn’t use shaving cream either. He uses liquid soap :) Guess it’s the same concept, yeah?

Yes, same concept :) I’m sure soap will be just as good but for us women we might need something a little more moisturizing, especially on the legs! :-P

I always use conditioner to shave when I run out of shaving cream. Actually, I don’t know why I don’t do that all the time as I prefer shaving with conditioner, my skin feels so smooth afterwards!

I know! I tried shaving cream once and it was such a hassle, I started dry shaving and doing the conditioner sometimes. You should just switch; it’s cheaper, easier, and moisturizing :)

dude im basically always forgetting to bring things in the shower with me so i’ve done this so many times…i also used my brother’s deodorant as shaving cream once, it was like a shave “gel” ha, and i’ve also used lotion and aloe vera gel.

You were ahead of us all! :) I think anything in the shower (bath gel, shampoo) works as well, it’s so much easier – shaving cream is always a big mess!

I actually use all sorts of things as shaving cream substitute, among them Cetaphil and creamy soaps.

Oh Cetaphil is a good one! Won’t irritate the skin either :)

yeah i tried this once and it left my legs so soft! i loved it! other than using conditioner i actually just use soap and lather it on my legs, it works ok and is really cheap. but yeah i like the conditioner way better than just using soap.

Love the conditioner, the only thing against it, is that its really slippery and can easily make you fall in the tub, or shower. But I love using it as my conditioner almost always lasts twice as long as my shampoo, I all ways use the older bottle or a really cheap kind that i don’t like the smell of.
