I’ve never been much of a ‘pink’ girl. Growing up, all my girl friends had pink-this and pink-that, but me? I loved green! Vomit green, to be precise. I was an avid collector of pots of “slime” and so vomit green was my favorite color. My friends and I would paint our nails, and mine would always be in the most vile shade of green, and theirs pretty in pink.
Soon after, I discovered black nails and immediately became obsessed. However, I was never allowed to wear it because according to my Mom, black nails looked “evil” (she’s since changed her mind). After years of begging, at the ripe old age of 15, I was finally allowed to wear black nail polish and haven’t looked back since.
Like the rest of the world, I was furiously checking to see what Kate Middleton’s beauty choices were for her wedding. While I was totally impressed with her makeup (she did it all herself, clever girl!) what really caught my eye were her pretty pinkish-nude colored nails. So classy. So feminine. So undeniably princess-like. Call me a copycat, call me inspired – but I never wanted to try pale pink nails fast enough. And as luck would have it, I did have a bottle of pink in my stash: OPI’s Heart Throb, a pale pink polish given to me a few years back that I never used.
And though my inner child is screaming in disgust, I am so in love with my girly pale pink nails. Thanks, Kate!
