… My nails this year are EXACTLY the same as last year. It’s Revlon’s Black Lingerie, and it’s just about to clump up and die, (it is seriously looking nasty) so I thought I’d use it one last time before I give it the boot. Again, I have topped it off with Sally Hansen’s Super Shiny Top Coat, pretty much THE best top coat in the world – I think I’m on my 4th or 5th bottle by now?!
What’s gonna be on your nails this Christmas? I can’t wait, the celebrations start tomorrow and my best friend is in town so it’s gonna be extra special.
Good grief, NARS. “G Spot”? Really? I love you but you are making it really hard for me to buy your stuff. Like when my dad when to NYC one year and I wanted to get the Orgasm blush (we don’t have NARS in Singapore). But how the hell do you tell your father you want something called “orgasm”?! (I later got it in London with my BFF to avoid all embarrassment. Review is here.)
Anyway, G Spot is a new holiday shade from NARS, and sigh… it’s so pretty. I guess I’ll have to wait ’til I’m BY MYSELF in a foreign country where NO ONE knows me to buy this one. Described as a “rich, gold-infused rose”, like all the other shades in The Multiple rage, it can be used not only as blush but also on your lips and eyes.
Thoughts? What other raunchy names can NARS come up with at this point?! Actually don’t answer that – we are a PG site!
My colleague has been touting that the “next big thing” in skincare is snail secretion! Apparently it’s really good for your skin. I couldn’t believe it would ever catch on, until I saw the video below:
What do you think? Would you dare try it? Or if you have, let me know!
Personally, I’d have to say a big OH HECK NO from me, but then again – if it’s all packaged up nicely and I can’t tell the difference between that any any other normal skin cream, I suppose it’s OK? Anyone else agree that if it looks “alright” you would still try it out?! Eeks. Still a little weird for me.
Today marks the day of being makeup free for (a little over) 6 months.
Yes, 6 months! I have a beauty blog and I’ve been makeup free for 6 months. (OK fine, I wear lipstick and blush for “important” events – 3 so far, such as my cousin’s wedding – so that I look remotely alive.) But other than that… no makeup. It all started with my stupid eye infection that I mentioned here. (However, the culprit was not hand cream in the end, we found out it was my new contact lenses. So thank you, Johnson&Johnson for screwing up my eyes! Also, thank you for never calling me back after I complained, where you promised you would look into the contaminated batch I was given and compensate me somehow! What excellent customer service!)
Anyway, after several styes and infections, my eye now has some chronic condition which I am SO thrilled about, obviously. I don’t want to complain though – it could be worse, but I can’t wear eye makeup or contacts, so I’ve been stuck bare-faced and in my nasty glasses (no offense to those who wear glasses – I just personally hate them) for 6 months.
And you know what? It’s been quite a lesson. I miss it, obviously – I never knew how much I enjoyed applying makeup, but there are some totally cool things about not wearing makeup…
I bought “Minted” by Revlon quite a while back when pastels was all the rage (remember pastel colored hair and pastel colored eyebrows?!) but haven’t been using it too much. The truth is, while I LOVE the color, the formula is not the best. It is VERY runny and watery, so you either need to apply thick layers (that chip very fast) or a lot of very thin layers; and who has the time for that? So I’ve come with a happy medium with Minted – just allow it to be slightly messy. It doesn’t look that bad, does it? OK, it does. Next!
Do you like mint colored nail polish? Which one is your favorite? Any recs for me?
