Lace & Buttons is a Singapore online fashion store with a difference. Instead of only being an online store that sells women’s clothing – ranging from everything from party dresses to formal wear – the website also includes special services that allows you to look your best and dress for your specific body type.

How?

Firstly, the founder, Prudence Yeo, is a certified style coach, so if you ever need any advice, she’s there for you. But not only that, the website includes a very helpful interactive “Body Shape test”, where all you need is a measuring tape.

It will ask you for specific measures on the usual areas – shoulders, waist and hips – and will not take much of your time. I think it took me less than 5 minutes, which is super fast!

I found the test to be very useful myself (I have always “guessed” my body type, but never really knew), and what’s great is that they also recommend the best type of clothing (shapes and structure, what to play up or down, etc). Also, there is a style personality test as well for those who want to know even more.

Diorsnow facial Singapore

This month, Dior offers not only their fantastic makeup and perfume at their counters, but now their very new Diorsnow White-Reveal Expert facial. Created by the Dior Innovation Center, which boasts over 260 researchers, the treatment uses the Diorsnow skincare range and its “special” ingredient, Icelandic Glacier Water. Completely devoid of pollution, it is one of the purest water in the world and is now used in all Dior forumlas that contain water – making the Diorsnow range a new, superior generation of whitening skincare.

With a resume like that, of course I wanted to try it out. As some of you might know, I am not a fan of facials – well, not that I don’t like them, but I am still suspicious if they actually do anything, and I had one really bad experience, so bad I was pretty miserable for a week after. The therapist poked my face like mad – “gentle extraction” my butt! – and it was red and sore the whole day, and I got breakouts the following week. So not fun. But this? This sounded too good to pass up.

dagger nail trend

Like the rest of the world, I am quite charmed by Miss Lana Del Rey. Her haunting song, Video Games was playing on the radio, and for once, I took notice. “Oooh this song is nice,” I said to my steering wheel. “Who is this?”

Fast forward 3 weeks and EVERYONE knows her, I am a proud owner of her album, and I have no shame – it is AMAZING. (Slightly off topic but you should check out This is What Makes Us Girls, Blue Jeans, Carmen, Radio, Dark Paradise and Diet Mountain Dew – sooo good!)

Anyway! This post is not about her album – it’s about her nails! Her pointy, sharp cat-lady claw-like nails.

I first saw her on the cover of UK Vogue and loved the whole photoshoot. But when it got to this photo – I couldn’t help but notice those nails. And yuck. Are they not awful?! Ruins the whole picture, me thinks.

I did more research and it seems to be a little trend (and has been appropriately nicknamed “dagger nails”). Singer/actress Demi Lovato has also sported them in the past.

What do you think? Would you ever try this crazy lady nails out? Sorry, but this time this is a big CRAZY from me – do not like.

Yay, it’s the end of February! I’m normally sad when a month ends (because one month down is one more closer to September which is my being a 24 year old. 24? Me? No!) but not this time for some reason. I think I’m actually looking forward to it, this time!

That being said, I’m sorry I’ve been a bit quiet this past week, I’ve been feeling unwell. I hope I get better soon, but in the meantime, on to my favorite goodies this month:

Bathies Beauties!: At the Philosophy event two weeks ago, Robin, the speaker, was talking about how our shower time is probably the only time we get to ourselves in our busy schedule – and she is so right. I really love taking showers (at night, still hate them in the mornings) and these beauties stink up my bathroom in a good way. First up is Crabtree & Evelyn’s Avacodo Olive and Basil shower wash. A friend of mine commented that the brand seems to be for “mature” ladies, but I disagree! They make really classy, timeless stuff and I love this for it’s pure scent. I know olive oil and basil kinda sounds like the ingredients to great pasta, but it really works here. It kinda reminds me of Italy for some reason. And of course, Philosophy’s Raspberry Sorbet (buy it here) is delicious. It’s the sinfulness of the desert without the calories! It smells SO good.

Clinique Even Better Spot Corrector (buy it here): While I didn’t see any difference in the first month, I am glad to report that that spot underneath my nose now looks like a faded freckle, and only noticeable if you look really close, which is never. YAY! So it’s definitely working.

Bonne Bell Lip Smacker Coca Cola Soda Collection

Lip Smacker, our much loved childhood lip balms!

Lip balms are a dime a dozen these days, so Lip Smacker knows that to stand out, you gotta offer something different… like these super cute soda inspired lip balms! Lip Smacker collaborated with Coca Cola to release a 3- piece collection of soda bottle cap lip balms, in all your favorite soda flavors, Coca Cola, Sprite and Fanta Orange.

Of course, I don’t’ need to talk about the formula – we have all been using Lip Smacker since we were in middle school. But still, it is super moisturizing and the lip balms actually smell like the drinks itself! Really nice if you’re into something sweet (which I always am), but be careful when applying this before bed. The first few nights of applying it, I kept wondering what that sweet smell was and if I had brushed my teeth yet!

They are $6.90 each and you can find them at all drugstores this month.

What do you think of Lip Smacker’s new soda-inspired lip balms? Are they not the CUTEST lip balm you’ve ever seen?! Also, which one is your favorite flavor? I like Sprite the best. :)
