Oh. My. Goodness. Prada has done it again. Some of you might remember that I have always liked Prada’s fragrances – I am obsessed with their male scent, and I wore Infusion D Iris all through college.
I first witnessed their latest perfume, Candy, in the usual: an ad in a magazine. And I couldn’t wait to try it out – another reason was that I wanted to see that stunning bottle! However, weeks went by and I had completely forgotten about it, until I saw on Twitter someone writing that it smelt exactly like play dough.
Play-dough?! I thought. (“Geez, I miss play-dough” was my other thought.) So the next time I was in town, I rushed to my favorite mall and tried it out. And yeah, if the play dough you used to play with as a kid cost $200, then yes, it smells like play-dough.
To be honest, my first reaction was “powder”, rather than play dough – it is a very powdery scent – much like their Infusion D’Iris fragrance, but with a slight sweet side (that would be the caramel note).
In other words, I love it. Santa, you reading? I want candy!

Luxola is a brand new online shop in Singapore that stocks hard-to-find cult brands and I love them! I have been looking at their site for a few months now – off topic but I LOVE their logo haha – and they approached me to tell me about their December special: if you spend over $50 at their store, you get one of these cute goodie bags!
They sent me one (and another for you – more on that later) and I thought that I’d give it a review as this is a sneak peak into the brands they carry.

So there is a lot of buzz in Singapore surrounfing the new Abercrombie & Fitch store, ever since it was announced that they would be coming to Singapore.

First, Singaporeans were angry because the ad (above) for the store showed a topless man. It started countless discussions on how it was objectifying men; making men who don’t look like that feel bad; it was indecent, yada yada yada. So much flak was being said that they eventually had to take it down.

And now, at the opening of the A&F store, they flew in all sorts of models to… well, look good and promote the store. I have been seeing on Facebook, Twitter, and my guy friends all commenting on it, saying they are offended, how it’s insulting to “regular” men, and that it’s disgusting how they would objectify men like that. One Facebook comment I saw was that the A&F men made him feel insecure ’cause he doesn’t “have a six pack” and that stuff like this is destroying men’s self esteem…

The past few weeks, I’ve been dreaming of Travis Barker. Nothing creepy, but he’s somehow always there… like an extra at a party or one night he was my college classmate stealing my pencils?! Super weird. I began to think that maybe I was in love with him, you know, subconsciously? Can you be in love with someone without knowing it? But then, I got this shirt in the mail and I knew it – my subconscious has been eagerly awaiting this shirt! That must be it.
I ordered this about 3 months ago and after many complications, it’s finally here! I got it more because I love Blink-182, but I also think Travis Barker is a fantastic drummer. The shirt is so in your face and I’ve gotten all sorts of “who is that?” comments. It’s an instant conversation starter, and I was in town today wearing it and I got a lot of stares. Don’t know if it’s a good or bad thing, but I don’t care! It’s my new favorite tee!

This is quite old (as in 1 year old!) but a reader told me that she found my blog through a very old issue of Costume Skjonnhet, fashion magazine Costume’s bi-annual beauty magazine from Norway. I suppose you could say it is just like the Costume Skonhet magazine in Denmark that Beauty Fool was also featured in! In fact, it was actually the same time – October 2010 – so I believe that the franchise has some of their content repeated all the magazine’s editions.
Either way, ”repeated” or not, I am extremely excited and have been looking for this issue for so long, and I am SO thankful that Editorial Director at Costume, Helene, helped scanned this little feature for me. (Thanks Helene!!!) (The top photo of the cover is by Iselin, I couldn’t find the cover photo anywhere online.)

Basically what it says is that it’s a list of the 10 best beauty bloggers worth following. I am so thankful for this, it’s always so exciting to see your little baby (yes, I have humanized my blog!) in, well, anywhere. (Seriously, I think if someone wrote “Beauty Fool” on toilet paper I’d be just as excited LOL.) I’m so blessed. Of course, my blog would be nothing without my precious readers. Thank you.
P.S. For new readers, it says beautyfool.net instead of .com because that was the old blog address… it’s still me!

For the past two weeks I have been trying a skincare brand from Denmark, Beaute Pacifique. And I have SO many things to say, but I admit that the first reason why I wanted to try this out is because I am half Danish, and yet I know NO Danish beauty brand. Quite shameful. And I am glad to say like a lot of Demmark’s finest things (Lego, Bang and Olufsen, butter cookies), we can now add Beaute Pacifque to that list.
I crawled out of my cave to attend the event a few weeks ago, and it was great to speak to the people behind the brand. The brand launched in 1997, and has made its debut in Singapore. A big part of their brand is anti-aging with scientific studies and results to back it up.

Note: This post was originally published on December 26th, 2008. (Wow, 3 years go?! Time flies!) I decided to re-post it as I know the 4th movie, Braking Dawn Part 1 is in cinemas now and thought that some of you might want to get the Bella/Edward makeup look.

The other night, I dragged my best friend to watch Twilight the other night, since she hadn’t seen it yet (it just came out here). I am happy to report that she is now in love with Robert Pattinson, and let’s be honest – he is the only reason I saw it LOL! In other words, the same reason why I am writing this post – Beauty Fool needs some eye candy around here.
Personally, I was too dazzled (ha!) during the movie so I didn’t really notice any of the makeup looks they did, but here’s exactly what makeup artist Jeanne Van Phue used on the main characters:
Bella Swan/Kristen Stewart
- Shiseido Ultimate Sun Protection Cream SPF 55P+++
- SK-II Air Touch Foundation in OP-3
- M.A.C. Blot Powder/Pressed in Light
- Visiora Compact Powder in PC 103 as blush
- M.A.C. Eye Shadow in Blanc Type,
- M.A.C. Eye Shadow in Flute (Flute was a limited edition color and is no longer available; Girlie is an equivalent)
- M.A.C. Eye Shadow in Wedge
- Smashbox Limitless Lash Mascara in black waterproof
- Smashbox Lip & Lid Primer
- Benefit Silky Finish Lipstick in Good to Go (a plum/brown color)
