Oh boy. Talk about dying and going to eyeshadow heaven! This palette from Coastal Scents has been quite a hit within the online beauty world, and it was only a few weeks ago that I decided to buy it and see what all the fuss is about. And I am so glad I did!
First of all, the price is amazing. You’re getting 88 shadows for about 20 bucks (!!!), so it’s already really afforable and worth the price. Yes, the colors are dime sized (how often do you finish a whole eyeshadow pot, anyway?) and there are a few ‘misses’ and chalky colors… but overall, it’s a really great palette. The lighter, matte shades are hard to show up on the skin so they aren’t too great, but the others are perfect. The colors are really pigmented and bold, and lasts on your lids. (My biggest eyeshadow pet peeve is that it disappears before dessert!)
What’s great about the 88 Color palette is that you have endless color combinations and looks to play with, which is one of the reasons I wanted to buy this palette… I’m gonna start doing some looks here on Beauty Fool! I love makeup but to be honest I haven’t been too experimental – I’ve worn eyeliner since the day I discovered it and my favorite ‘look’ is smokey eyes, which is basically black and very safe. So lookout for some tutorials.
(If you have any requests, let me know… there’s so many looks, I don’t know where to start!)
In the meantime, there’s not so much to say about this palette except that if you’re into color, experimenting and want something affordable, I would highly recommend this palette, I really adore it!
The lighter colors are quite hard to show up – it’s a tad too chalky for my liking, but I think it does the job if you’re looking for affordable pastel pale colors.
The bold colors are the most impressive. They are incredibly pigmented and when you think of how many pigmented colors you’re getting, this palette is incredible. And of course, the actual palette is fantastic as well. They are too beautiful NOT to have in your dressing table, don’t you think?
Have you tried the 88 Color Palette yet? What did you think of it and what are your favorite colors? I am using the last three columns the most!
