Have you ever touched a newborn baby’s skin? My goodness, you must.

My cousin had a son over a month ago (Gareth we love you!!!) and recently at my other cousin’s wedding, I met him and I couldn’t stop stroking his cheeks because they were so ridiculously soft. And he has NO PORES. For real. Why are babies so perfect?!

Anyway, I recently read that Leighton Meester’s makeup artist, Amy Tagliamonti, knows the highly-coveted baby-skin and uses Mustela’s Hydra-Bébé Body Lotion on the star on the set of Gossip Girl. She says Leighton loves the way it makes her skin glow and smell baby fresh, not to mention it makes her skin ridiculously baby soft.

It also reminded me that last week, before meeting a friend, I was bumming around at an organic shop and was mesmerized at the baby “beauty” section (which were pretty much all bath and body products). I asked if adults can use baby products, and the owner of the store said of course, that many women use baby products. I had no idea!

That has got me wondering… do you use baby products? I use baby oil sometimes, does that count? I can imagine using baby products would be great for those with sensitive skin, as we’ve been discussing recently!

P.S. Can you guess who that bald baby is? :D

Clinique Even Better Dark Spot Corrector

A little over a month ago, I attended the launch event for Clinique’s Even Better Clinical Dark Spot Corrector (could it have a longer name?!) and in the goodie bag, we were kindly given a bottle to try out.

I originally wrote that I’d review it after a month, but then I read that it takes 3 months to fully “work” and see any results. So instead, I thought I’d do a monthly “progress report” to see how it’s working.

Before I start though, I have to say that I am only testing it out on one dark spot: one I have on nose. Or inside, I don’t know. But you see that little brown spot under my nostril in this photo? Yeah, that ain’t a freckle, like some of my friends claim to be “so cute”. IT WAS A PIMPLE! At least I think it was… I vaguely remember scratching the hell out of it in high school. But whatever it is, I am testing the WHOLE bottle of Even Better on that one spot, I don’t care how long it takes, that thing has to go!

Anyway, I’ve been diligently applying the Even Better Dark Spot Corrector twice a day, morning and night for 1 month, and so far… I see a SLIGHT change, but nothing dramatic. (Oh yes, and just FYI, I think this spot has been on my face for 6 years – minimum – so Clinique, you gotta lot of work to do!) I hope to have better news in Month #2, but so far, it looks like it’s working… but it’s slow. So don’t believe all those reviews where they can see a difference “after the first application” – as if! But so far, so good.

I’ll be back next month but in the meantime, has anyone been using it/has used it? What do you think?

Yeow! It’s that time again. Every 6 months or so I like to do a “Ask Me Anything” post where it’s basically a free post – if you have any questions, please ask me! If you feel like ranting, or just talking about non-beauty things as well, go ahead! There are no rules. (Past posts are here and here.)

Also, this time round, I have some questions to ask YOU! :D

I have left that job in that beauty company and once again I am my own boss so more focus on the blog, yay! I doubt anyone knows but waaaay before Beauty Fool (back in 2005/06) I had another beauty blog, and I remember I did so many cool reader-submission stuff, and I wanna bring it back! What do you think of featuring more readers into the blog? Like readers sending in “What’s In My Makeup Bag” posts, etc? Yay or nay? ALSO, I’m being asked left and right about blogging; what do you think if I do a blogging “column” here, maybe once a month (not too much as it’s still a beauty blog) to answer some of your more “techy” questions? I’m no expert but I’ve been blogging since I was 16 (almost 8 years, damn!) so I might know a thing or two!

UPDATE: Ahhh, another question I totally forgot to ask earlier! I am really wanting to do the YouTube channel soon but my eyes are still looking awful… do you have any ideas for videos where I don’t have to be on camera, or should I just wear sunglasses?! Haha!

Thanks so much for your feedback. As you can see, Bailey is patiently awaiting to hear your thoughts!

Sensitive skin products

You know, it’s so easy to just say that your skin is “sensitive” just because you might get a reaction to a product. I was reading an article in Glamour recently on the myths of sensitive skin, and how women are so quick to claim they have sensitive skin, and that most women who think they have sensitive skin, don’t. I froze – could I be one of those paranoid women? I mean, I pretty much self-diagnosed myself. I kept reading and found out I wasn’t, as I have a lot of the “symptoms” listed below, but I wanted to share because I thought that some of you might find this useful as well.

So without further ado, signs that you might have sensitive skin:

  • a new cleanser or moisturizer, even without potent ingredients, make your skin burn, itch, sting, and/or turn pink.
  • mosquito bites swell bigger and redder than normal
  • your skin seems so dry and parched that no amount of moisturizer seems to “satisfy” it
  • a strong gush of wind irritates your skin and causes it to itch and sting
  • your pimples tend to be bigger (and badder!) than regular zits
  • your nose and cheeks tend to get flushed easily

So ladies – what do you say? Do you REALLY have sensitive skin? I have 4 out of those 6 listed, sigh. I guess I do have sensitive skin. (To read more about skin types, check out my post, How to Find Your Skin Type.)
