clinique even better clinical dark spot corrector

clinique even better clinical dark spot corrector

On Tuesday, I had my very first “Red carpet” experience at a fantastic Clinique launch event for their new product, Even Better Clinical Dark Spot Corrector… and it was kind of a disaster.

Because I could only confirm my attendance at the last minute; because I has just come from work; because I NEVER dress up for work since I sit in an office all day; I showed up in:

A hoodie. Jeggings. Sneakers. Glasses. No makeup. And a backpack.

A BACKPACK?! At a glamourous media event? Somebody call Joan Rivers.

That being said, after the initial horror of running through the red carpet (I literally RAN for my life when I saw all the cameras), it was SUCH a fun event and I am so glad I attended. It’s the most fun I’ve had at an event yet!

I Want Candy!

December 15, 2011

prada candy perfume

Oh. My. Goodness. Prada has done it again. Some of you might remember that I have always liked Prada’s fragrances – I am obsessed with their male scent, and I wore Infusion D Iris all through college.

I first witnessed their latest perfume, Candy, in the usual: an ad in a magazine. And I couldn’t wait to try it out – another reason was that I wanted to see that stunning bottle! However, weeks went by and I had completely forgotten about it, until I saw on Twitter someone writing that it smelt exactly like play dough.

Play-dough?! I thought. (“Geez, I miss play-dough” was my other thought.) So the next time I was in town, I rushed to my favorite mall and tried it out. And yeah, if the play dough you used to play with as a kid cost $200, then yes, it smells like play-dough.

To be honest, my first reaction was “powder”, rather than play dough – it is a very powdery scent – much like their Infusion D’Iris fragrance, but with a slight sweet side (that would be the caramel note).

In other words, I love it. Santa, you reading? I want candy!

Introducing… Luxola

December 14, 2011

luxola singapore

Luxola is a brand new online shop in Singapore that stocks hard-to-find cult brands and I love them! I have been looking at their site for a few months now – off topic but I LOVE their logo haha – and they approached me to tell me about their December special: if you spend over $50 at their store, you get one of these cute goodie bags!

They sent me one (and another for you – more on that later) and I thought that I’d give it a review as this is a sneak peak into the brands they carry.

So there is a lot of buzz in Singapore surrounfing the new Abercrombie & Fitch store, ever since it was announced that they would be coming to Singapore.

First, Singaporeans were angry because the ad (above) for the store showed a topless man. It started countless discussions on how it was objectifying men; making men who don’t look like that feel bad; it was indecent, yada yada yada. So much flak was being said that they eventually had to take it down.

And now, at the opening of the A&F store, they flew in all sorts of models to… well, look good and promote the store. I have been seeing on Facebook, Twitter, and my guy friends all commenting on it, saying they are offended, how it’s insulting to “regular” men, and that it’s disgusting how they would objectify men like that. One Facebook comment I saw was that the A&F men made him feel insecure ’cause he doesn’t “have a six pack” and that stuff like this is destroying men’s self esteem…

Little Drummer Boy

December 8, 2011

travis barker tshirt

The past few weeks, I’ve been dreaming of Travis Barker. Nothing creepy, but he’s somehow always there… like an extra at a party or one night he was my college classmate stealing my pencils?! Super weird. I began to think that maybe I was in love with him, you know, subconsciously? Can you be in love with someone without knowing it? But then, I got this shirt in the mail and I knew it – my subconscious has been eagerly awaiting this shirt! That must be it.

I ordered this about 3 months ago and after many complications, it’s finally here! I got it more because I love Blink-182, but I also think Travis Barker is a fantastic drummer. The shirt is so in your face and I’ve gotten all sorts of “who is that?” comments. It’s an instant conversation starter, and I was in town today wearing it and I got a lot of stares. Don’t know if it’s a good or bad thing, but I don’t care! It’s my new favorite tee! :)
