Some time back, I was nominated for Escentual.com’s Blog of the Year award – and I didn’t really mention it here on my blog as I know there is no chance of me ever winning! But then I found out that I am the Runner Up! Whoever voted for me, please make yourself known so I can thank you! I feel really blessed and thankful to God for this honor.
Also, while looking at the Escentual.com site, I found it to be quite excellent… and get this, THEY SHIP INTERNATIONALLY! They even ship liquids internationally, which I thought was not allowed? (Every time I go to the post office I always get the lady yelling at me that we cannot send out anything with liquids!) Either way, big points from me. So if you’re looking for a new beauty destination, go visit them! I’ve been reading their blog as well and they are so lovely.
Happy shopping! I for one am eyeing their perfume section like a hawk…

This has been a long time coming, but I’m finally gonna talk about a hair “secret” of mine that makes my damaged hair super soft, smooth and shiny. It’s coconut oil! And not just any oil, but Dabur Vatika’s Enriched Coconut Hair Oil
.
Here’s why it is THE best coconut oil:
- Coconut oil is one of the only oils that can actually penetrate the hair shaft, so you know it will work
- It contains lemon, an astringent that controls sebum (that can cause dandruff), henna to make your hair color “richer” (if you haven’t dyed it) and other herbs
- Makes my hair super shiny and soft
- Makes my hair stronger after all the damage
- Easy to apply
And here’s why it NOT the best:

I really love the scent of coconut, however, this coconut oil smell and normal coconut smell is very different, with this coconut oil being extremely pungent. Think of it as coconut that has gone bad for 5 years. It is so pungent that once, I decided to apply some of it to my hair and went to bed. The stench was all around me (I didn’t even put that much!) and my sinuses acted up like crazy, so ugh. My nose was red and itchy and stayed that way for a whole day! I’ve learnt my lesson: only apply it on freshly washed, partially dry hair. This allows the oil to dry as your hair dries, so it’s fully soaked in and you won’t know it’s there.
So yeah, that’s my hair secret, and it really works because I’ve literally gotten ONE compliment on my hair since I’ve started using it again. Just kidding, it’s really good. I stopped for awhile because I really couldn’t stand the smell, but I will suck it up, it’s just too good! Also, it’s only $3.95 and you can buy it at any convenience store in Little India.
Have you tried coconut oil for your hair? What do you think?

Does the title even make sense? Oh well, I like it!
This afternoon I attended the launch event for Philosophy – a brand I have been eyeing with jealously in American blogs and magazines! They are finally coming to Singpore and I am so excited. The magic date? April 27th at Sephora! Mark your calendars! I’ll write a proper post on the launch later, as there was a professional photographer there so I think they will send us those pictures (plus I only took a few snaps); but here are some I took today. They did a great job and I really enjoyed myself! The event was very informative, was at an amazing location and I met some lovely people there, as well as catching up with my blogger-friends.

… Zooey Deschanel’s super cute tuxedo nails at the Golden Globes! Personally I’m really not into award shows, except to check out the fashion styles! And I just love Zooey’s adorable nail art! I really want to try it out myself but my nails are so tiny, it’s so hard to do patterns on them (like my time trying out Minx nails – choosing a pattern that actually fit my nails was tough!). But I’m still gonna try! They look too cute.
What do you think of Zooey’s tuxedo nails?

Even though I hate Valentine’s Day, (whether I’m single or not – seriously I find it SO awkward, I am so not a romantic!) I really love the “look” of it – you know, cute, lovely sweet little things. This inspired me to write this post – how to “do” a cute, flirty, feminine makeup look, just in time for V-day. Think glossy pink lips, shimmer eyeshadows, fluttery eyelashes… a look that will never go out of style!
First and foremost, get a great base that looks natural, such as a tinted moisturizer or a BB Cream. (I like Bobbi Brown’s BB Cream.) Apply it only on the areas where you need it, ’cause applying it all over your skin makes it look quite mask-like. Next, apply concealer to under eye circles and blemishes, and then leave it be – this slight dewy look works for this, so skip the powder.
