Miracle Product for Hair: Dry Shampoo

April 14, 2009

dry shampoo

I start this post with a confession …. I hate washing my hair. I really, really do. It’s so annoying! I’d rather sit in the shower and just let the water run down me while I day dream. This is probably why I don’t wash it often.

Gross! Do you have lice?! I hear you scream. Don’t worry – it’s nothing crazy like a month without washing, and I hear that it’s actually good and healthy to skip the shampoo once in a while. It lets the natural oils from the hair condition it, which is actually better for the hair.

Anyways, there is a miracle product that does help me out in between washes – dry shampoo. Where has it been all my life? In my nasty high school days when I would only wash my hair when it itches (now that’s gross) I would sprinkle baby powder into my roots to soak up all the gunk and my hair would look instantly fresh. However, in today’s beauty industry, there are so many different dry shampoos.

Dry shampoos help clean, absorb grease, scent the hair, and creates light volume. Plus, it gets makes the hair look a whole lot better in general. I highly recommend it for those lazy days – it is really a great product. I’m currently using Batiste and it not only works, but is as cheap as chips – a real winner.

What are your thoughts on dry shampoo? Is it one of your must-have products? Also, if you have any other brands to recommend, do tell!

Same here. No dry shampoo in my region either. Sob.
How great would it be if I have these babies here. LOL. No more limp looking hair in between washes. Hehe.

I’m glad you finally have an article on dry shampoos!! I’m just like you! Shampooing my hair is one big drag, the blow drying is the killer, I sometimes blow my hair until I see stars coming out of the hair dryer! I just hate it. But I must admit that my dry shampoo is just a humble bottle of Johnson’s baby powder. It works but sometimes I look pretty “grey” when I can’t brush out all the powder. Will surely check out some of the products you’d recommended. Thanks.

Hey there, I was having trouble finding it as well, and I know of 2 places that absolutely have it – “Sally Beauty Stores” have a cheap, really great one… and Sephora also sells a spray-style one.. that one is a bit pricy, and doesn’t last very long… you’re much better off tgoing to Sally Beauty and getting the one that is regular powder, much like baby powder. It lasts a lot longer than the spray ones. If you don’t have a Sally around you, you could actually check WalMart… they might sell it as well. Hope this helps! :)

I like the one by Klorane. I have it on standby on days that I’m too knackered to wash my hair after a night out :P

Dry shampoos really are life savers for me. I use them to refreshen up my hair after a sweaty workout at the gym. I would recommend it too!

Where can I buy these? Dry shampoos seem to be the answer to my *ahem* lazy days. :D Really, great stuff. Nice to know that someone else shares my disdain for constant hair washing.

Wow, seems like dry shampoo has a lot of fans! Thanks for all your comments! :)

Vicky, Prettybeautiful, Bianca and Kaye – I highly recommend it. It’s really a life saver.

I know that Sephora.com and Amazon.com have a lot to choose from. However, there may be a problem with shipping as they are aerosol cans, so you can try local beauty supplies shops – anything that is the equivalent to Boots or Target in your area!

Also drugstore.com – I just bought a can of Batiste there. I didn’t have any problem with shipping, they just said it had to be ground shipping, which can take an extra day or two.

BTW, I’ve tried Pssst!, and it smells *horrible*. The Batiste is WAY better (I got it in “blush”, haven’t tried the original scent yet).

I WOULD LOVE TO FIND THOSE DRY SHAMPOOS AND NICE HAIR PRODUCTS FOR MY HAIR, I LIVE IN PANAMÀ, AND IT`S VERY HARD FOR ME TO GET THINGS LIKE THAT OVER HERE, WE USED TO HAVE SOME FROM SEBASTIAN BUT IT`S NO LONGER ON THE MARKET OR BEAUTY SALON`S. WE HAVE MANY BRANDS OF HAIR PRODUCTS THAT YOU CAN BUY IN A MARKET OR THOSE MORE EXPENSIVE ONES IN BEAUTY SALONS BUT NON OF THEM HAVE A PRODUCT TO REFRESH HAIR AND SCALP BETWEEN SHAMPOOS. IREALLY NEED ONE OF THOSE, WOULD LIKE TO TRY KLORANE. I WAS WONDERING IF I CAN ORDER IT OR ASK A FRIEND IN THE STATES IF IT`S EASY TO FIND THIS ONE OR ANOTHER GOOD ONE.

Where do you buy dry shampoo?! I’ve looked everywhere possible (Ulta, Target, Walgreens, etc) and I haven’t found anything. Where can I buy it? And I tried to use some baby powder, but my hair looked like a pastry! :( Any tricks or tips?

I need to go get me some dry shampoo! Especially with all the travelling I’ve been doing. In some places, I would rather not spend too much time in the toilet!

i was looking through your posts and i found this one, you talk about how it can be good for your hair not to wash it everyday, well my boyfriend has now stopped washing his hair with products, only water and his hair looks really good. People always ask if his hair isn’t always greasy and dirty but when you shower regularly it keeps healthy and clean.
Just wanted to share that with you :)
