May 2011 Favorites

I know I do an annual post about my ‘top’ beauty finds of the year, but I thought I should do one every month – imagine trying to pick just a couple of good products a year! It’s just too hard. There are so many great new finds that I’d like to share with you, so without further ado, here are a couple of my favorites this month:

Bobbi Brown BB Cream SPF 35. Again, I’ve already reviewed this, but I’ve been using this ever since I was given a bottle. So natural looking, amazing SPF power and good oil control. Key word here is natural looking – you all know how much I hate foundation!

Benefit It’s Potent Eye Cream. I was given a small sample of this at their b.right! launch event and I am impressed. Benefit is not known for skincare (this is their first array into skincare) so I was a bit hesitant. However, from the event we got to test out the range and it seemed really good, so I was excited to try some of the products out. The eye cream was said to be the best of the bunch, and while I haven’t tried them all out yet, I really like this eye cream. No milia seeds, breakouts or any reactions (yet!), a calming flowery scent, and the formula is very moisturizing yet non greasy. It dries up pretty fast too, so you don’t feel any heaviness of a product near your eye area.

Rachel K Lip Plumper. Rachel Kum sent me some of her limited edition lip plumpers and I have to say – I missed plumpers! They are so fun. I especially love the slight tingly feeling you get on your lips and I love Lolita, a very pretty pink-nude color.

Clarins UV Plus HP SPF 40 Day Cream. I absolutely adore this sunscreen. I’ve already written a review about it so I won’t say much. But SGD$74… why?! I love it, but I don’t think I can really afford this. I suppose I’ll have to go on a sunscreen hunt after this bottle is finished, but still – amazing product. Definitely my top favorite find this month!

Avalon Organics Nourishing Lavender Shampoo. This is so fantastic, it warrants its own post. Look out for a review post very soon!

KMS Volumizing Leave in Conditioner. I love me some leave-in conditioner, because honestly speaking, I hate washing my hair and not applying conditioner in the shower is one less hassle. The thing is, as someone with very flat, thin hair, leave-in conditioners tend to be very thick and weigh my hair down. So I was so happy that KMS made not only a leave in conditioner that enhances volume, but because it’s also a spray – it is so light-weight; proof that they know what they are talking about. The scent is absolutely stunning too – not only will it condition your hair, but it even acts as a hair perfume with its lovely eucalyptus scent.

Et voila – my top picks for the month of May. Do you have any favorites this month? Do share! :D

Aah I love Avalon Organics’ shampoos too, especially the strengthening peppermint one. My favourite minty smell, which feels really refreshing, tingly and cool on your scalp too! :) The Bobbi Brown BB Cream looks really interesting, but I read from somewhere that it’s only available from Bobbi Brown Travel or something? Is it true? x Loves these sort of monthly favourite posts, keep them coming! :)

Hey Eve! Ooh!!! OK the peppermint one will be next on my list. :)

And yep, the BB cream is a travel exclusive, so I suppose the best bet is the airport and duty free shops? xx

And thanks so much, I’m glad you like these type of posts! I’ll be doing them every last Sunday of the month, I like them too, they are fun :)

If you love that KMS Product but want more volume and hold for a night out try KMS addvolume root and body lift. It has to be by far the best root boost on the market.

I can’t believe I haven’t tried ANY of these products! I always love your recommendations, so I will have to check these out next time I’m out and about.
Thanks soooo much for sharing about the leave-in conditioner.. I have hair similar to yours, and with summer coming up a leave-in is a must!

Avalon Organic’s shampoo definetly did not work for me. I did a review on my mini blog.

Hey, read your review. Do you think it is because you’ve chemically treated your hair? I have “virgin” hair so I suppose it doesn’t need any “special” ingredients so to speak xx

Avalon Organics’ Lavender Shampoo is definitely a favourite of mine, too! I’m also in love with Trilogy’s Organic Rosehip Oil and Posietint by Benefit. Oh, and orange nail polish ?

Same question with K , where do you get KMS products from! :O

Hey E and Sarah, KMS products are kinda like Redken and all those brands – they are sold in select salons. You can call 6835-1551 to see which salons carry the brand? That’s their hotline number.

And E, yes I’ve had one experience with dandruff. I tried a new brand of shampoo and got dandruff from it, but then went for a hair treatment for dandruff and then it was gone. You can read about it here: http://www.beautyfool.net/say-goodbye-to-dandruff-with-phyto-hair-spas-5-step-dandruff-detox-treatment/

Hi!!! I also love Avalon Organics!!! Because of eczema I use their Lavender oil body spray. And Clarins SPF 40 is a good choice for Singapore’s humid climate which screams for sunscreen in a light lotion form.

My monthly favourite has to be Toms of Maine Lavender Aluminium free deodorant which is good for sensitive skin. And

I am trying to get my hands on the Bobbi Brown BB Cream but it has been out-of-stock for a couple of weeks. Only left with the lightest shade. Shall wait =)
