Makeup Used in Twilight

December 6, 2011

Note: This post was originally published on December 26th, 2008. (Wow, 3 years go?! Time flies!) I decided to re-post it as I know the 4th movie, Braking Dawn Part 1 is in cinemas now and thought that some of you might want to get the Bella/Edward makeup look. :)

twilight movie scene

The other night, I dragged my best friend to watch Twilight the other night, since she hadn’t seen it yet (it just came out here). I am happy to report that she is now in love with Robert Pattinson, and let’s be honest – he is the only reason I saw it LOL! In other words, the same reason why I am writing this post – Beauty Fool needs some eye candy around here.

Personally, I was too dazzled (ha!) during the movie so I didn’t really notice any of the makeup looks they did, but here’s exactly what makeup artist Jeanne Van Phue used on the main characters:

Bella Swan/Kristen Stewart

  • Shiseido Ultimate Sun Protection Cream SPF 55P+++
  • SK-II Air Touch Foundation in OP-3
  • M.A.C. Blot Powder/Pressed in Light
  • Visiora Compact Powder in PC 103 as blush
  • M.A.C. Eye Shadow in Blanc Type,
  • M.A.C. Eye Shadow in Flute (Flute was a limited edition color and is no longer available; Girlie is an equivalent)
  • M.A.C. Eye Shadow in Wedge
  • Smashbox Limitless Lash Mascara in black waterproof
  • Smashbox Lip & Lid Primer
  • Benefit Silky Finish Lipstick in Good to Go (a plum/brown color)

Edward Cullen/Robert Pattinson

  • Shiseido Ultimate Sun Protection Cream SPF 55P+++
  • SK-II Air Touch Foundation in OP-1
  • M.A.C. Blot Powder/Pressed in Light
  • Benefit Silky Finish Lipstick in Ms. Behavin (a mulberry color)
  • Noriko Cranberry Lip Balm

Have you seen Twilight? Do you love/hate it? I don’t really know what to think of it to be honest. It’s good but weird? Weird good. But I thought the music was amazing, I HAVE to get the soundtrack.

ugh. no. i read the books back in 07 or 08 i think.. and OH MY GOD. i loved them. They were amazing. mainly cuz i was going through a bad break up found these amazing and didn’t make me feel bitter about my first heart break.. then the movie came out n ruined everything. and i hate the cast. NONE of them, [except bella's father charlie] fit their roles. and there is NO eye candy in this movie. none at all. :P

in the books they were described to look white, sure…but glow at the same time, like Greek Gods… instead, they look like they cover themselves in powder everyday and are just unhealthy. each of them look like they resemble an animal. carlisle = owl. Bella = rat. and Edward = elvis Dog. Rosalie is supposed to be the most beautiful girl EVER. she looks like the witch from Snow White. -.- or a goblin. they should have picked someone like Dianna Argon or someone kinda like Rachel McAdams [my opinion ^_^] and Edward does NOT sparkle in the sunlight..i think they just sprinkled crushed glass powder on him. The movie and cast was SO bad, i don’t understand how Kristen ever made it as an actress.. and i just still can’t get over it, years later..i’m still pretty pissed that they have ruined the books and Vampires can never ever be taken seriously again! but i’m curious to see how they’re gonna pull Breaking Dawn off, so i might just watch it, but i’m not expecting much from it.

I’m sorry, this is probably the most bitter post i have EVER written. i’m sorry guys, if anyone is a fan of the movies. i just…can’t.

Hahaha I love your opinions, bitter or not, keep them coming!

I have to say I’m the opposite – the books were painful to read, I always started them but could never finish them, so I like the movies way better. I also didn’t see Kristen as Bella… not sure who I saw, to be honest. And I totally agree on Edward’s brothers and sisters, did not picture them at all! I think the best cast one was Jacob, he’s really good!

To be honest though, I don’t see how they could’ve made them look super pale without powder, so I didn’t have a problem with that. You should see Breaking Dawn, not cos it’s good or anything, haha, but I felt the effects were really good.

hahaha :P i guess i liked the books cuz i was going through a rough time. the first one was soo boring n became good at the very end. the second was depressing and the last two were awesome. looking back on it, i’m pretty sure they kept me so busy because i needed something out of my personal life to suck me into. :P

Jacob is good!! he was properly cast, even though i pictured someone different.

the powder made them look a bit grey. also, they all looked angry or depressed :S they could have just seemed..casually quiet and they could have hired pale or just fair people. and you know what’s lovely? “THIS.. IS WHY I CAN’T GO OUT IN THE SUN” i burst out laughin at that scene..i pictured it differently in the books and he seemed kinda like a wuss in the movie. -.-

BREAKING DAWN :D i’m not looking forward to it but i’d like to see the effects :D and how they’d pull it off :P

i love twilight (watched it 9 times!) and new moon but it seems like it’s getting a bit.. stale.. hahaha. and plus i was totally in love with edward cullen, until i saw robert pattinson in an interview. after that i just kept seeing rpatz instead of edward so… that kinda spoiled the show for me :(

btw you can search the soundtracks on mediafire (am i allowed to encourage downloading? hahaha) but i have both the OST and songs used in Twilight. i totally love that song they danced to at the end of the movie called ‘Flightless Bird American Mouth’. LOVE!!!

Oh yes, Flightless Bird is amazing, I have it on my iPod since the first movie! Their soundtracks are really good.

I too find it a bit stale! I like New Moon the best (and I guess the first one) but after that it’s just… alright?

Ohhh! Thanks. And I just cracked up at the cranberry lipbalm for Edward/Robert Pattinson. A Vampire wearing cranberry lip balm…heehee.

Is the foundation good enough to cover dark rings around the eyes? Or would someone with horrid dark circles, like me, have to use a concealer while going for a nude look like this? And any brand suggestions?

Haha I cracked up when I read he’s wearing a lipstick called Ms. Behavin’ LOL!

I find Laura Mercier concealers very good, have you tried her? (Very expensive though. :( )

Hmmm, nope. I normally don’t wear concealer, and just let my horrid dark circles show, but I’d definitely like to try Laura Mercier. What do you think of Bobby Brown?

And while I’m at it, any suggestions for a good eye make-up remover as well? I’m fed-up of losing lashes and not getting all my make-up off, no matter how careful I am. So frustrating when you don’t even use waterproof make up.
