Review: L’Oreal Elnett Satin Hairspray

November 4, 2008

l'oreal elnett satin hairspray

I had originally written this post over a month ago, and was thinking of deleting it because I thought no one really cares about hairspray – but boy, how wrong I was! After reading a whole feature about it in November’s issue of Allure, I realized that this hairspray was not sold in the US and every one’s been dying to try it out!

In fact, Allure says; “The maddening fact that it was difficult to find Elnett in the U.S. has been part of the spray’s appeal.”

Elnett Satin hairspray was the first styling product I ever bought and used (and to this day, the only thing I put in my hair. (Apart from shampoo of course!).

I’m very glad to say it did everything you would expect from hairspray, so I never felt a need to change. In fact, now that I read that article in Allure, I see how much I’ve been taking it for granted – it just works, and I never really thought about how good it was.

The only real time I need Elnett is to set my hair when I do an updo (which is often) and it really is amazing how this fine mist has such strong hold and staying power. My updo looks natural, never stiff and is soft to the touch.

What’s even better is that if are too lazy to wash your hair after and just want to sleep (guilty) just take a brush and comb your hair – the hairspray completely disappears and hair is back to normal again.

I have nothing bad to say about it (except the hairspray smell is annoying, but goes off after awhile) – this product is pure gold. It is cheap, works wonders, and lasts the bottle lasts for a long time. I highly recommend it.

Anyone else swear by this product? I read it’s used by all the top stylists on the catwalks.

I have a a big whole sale can of this on my dressing table. I love it, there is no use to ever change hairspray brand for me!

I wondered if you’ve tried the version now sold in the US through Target….and if you’ve noticed any differences, other than the revised spray mechanism.

Hi Renee! Hope you are having a good day! It’s the weekend, and it’s cold and rainy, hope that puts you into the festive mood:)
Thanks for doing a writeup on this l’oreal Elnett Satin Hairspray. I do have some questions though. Would you recommend it for everyday use? I like to keep my hair in a top knot/ bun. I cant stand stray wisps of hair landing on my face. I definitely will purchase this if you say yes :)
I look forward to hearing from you. At the moment, Im using leave in conditioner to make my hair stay where I need it to. I would love to know if this works way superb.:)

Hey Beth!

Ahhh I love rain so I did have a great day! :) How was your weekend?

I would TOTALLY recommend this hairspray, it really is the best… but I have personally stopped using it as L’Oreal tests on animals :( So if that’s important to you, I’d say to please skip it!
