How to: Emily VanCamp of Revenge Wavy Hair

You all know what God says about revenge, right? (Romans 12:19.) Well, Emily Thorn seriously needs to go back to Sunday School, because in the new series Revenge (buy it here), girl goes ALL out. But boy does she make it look so good! It’s my absolute favorite TV show right now, and guys, you gotta watch it.

Revenge TV Show

Set in the Hamptons, the series is full of beautiful, perfect looking people, beautiful scenery, perfect weather, and money: lots of it. But before you think it’s a happy TV show, it is also full of lies, deceit, betrayal… and oh, yeah, revenge. Some pretty hard revenge. I can’t get enough!

The lead actress, Emily VanCamp, plays Emily Thorn (or is that her real name? Ha!), and I for one have been so immersed in her character. I also want to know who does her styling because the dresses she wears, you guys will faint. They are beyond stunning. But the one thing I notice is her hair: beautiful and simple. Her shoulder length blonde hair always is perfectly curled, and I think it’s so classy.

Revenge TV Show

Three words: HAIR CRUSH ALERT. I thought I liked Jennifer Aniston’s hair, but move over, Rachel! Emily’s is perfection. I adore shoulder length hair (since that impromptu cut years ago I’ve never gone back to long hair!) and sigh… her waves are exactly what I wanted with my digital perm that went horribly wrong. Someday I will get perfect curls! But until then, I – and you – can fake it with tips and product recommendations from Carl Bailey, celebrity hairstylist and the mane man behind Emily’s gorgeous curls.

White Sands hair on Revenge TV ShowHere’s how:

1. On damp hair, Carl applies a quarter-sized amount of White Sands The Cure 24/7 Hair Cell Renewal, a leave-in reconstruction treatment. This helps to repair and to protect her color treated hair. He says, “This leave-in treatment mends split ends and restores internal moisture, while also making tresses stronger, smoother, and shinier.”

2. Next, he mists a volumizing spray on Emily’s fine hair for some definition before he begins styling.

3. After, Carl blow dries her hair with a diffuser attached, “making sure to scrunch the hair with my fingers while drying for additional texture.”

4. Lastly, to get the curls, Carl wraps small sections of her hair around a large barrel curling iron and releases. To give her curls extra staying power, he finishes off the hairstyle by spraying White Sands Liquid Texture Styling Spray for long lasting hold which “is a must for on set.”

Now I’ve never heard of White Sands hair products before, but a little research shows me that it’s been featured in every hair magazine possible, and is also the main brand for the hairstyles you see on The Vampire Diaries.

Also, if you’re overseas, you can buy the complete first season here. You won’t regret it!

Anyway, enough of that: have you seen Revenge? What do you think of it? Are you as hooked as I am? Who’s your favorite? WHEN IS SEASON 2 AIRING?!!?! This is the first time I’ve liked a TV show so much (I’m more of a movie buff), but I think I’m obsessed! :D

I tried to watch the first episode but didn’t like it :/ A friend told me that the story picks up around the 5th/6th episode though, so I might still give it a chance ! Do you watch Pretty Little liars as well ? You’d like it I think, it’s a lot about revenge too, and it’s shock-full of suspence (and amazing hair – good ideas for tutorials *hint hint* :p)

    • Renee May 16, 2012, 1:27 pm

Aw really? I was hooked on the 3rd episode, give it a chance! It gets a bit far fetched by the end of Season 1 but so entertaining!

I did try to watch PLL but I’m not too fond of shows that are set in schools for some reason, maybe ’cause I hate school that much?! LOL. That’s why I never got into Gossip Girl and all the others… must be why I like this one! :P

      • Krib May 16, 2012, 8:39 pm

ahah I don’t mind the school setting since it takes place a lot in the Liars’ homes as well. I always wondered if american schools are really like that though. When I was in high school, there was not a swarm of popular/rich girls and nerds who worshipped them so I sure hope american tv shows strongly exaggerate their portrayal of high school drama x)

        • Renee May 17, 2012, 12:35 am

I wondered that too a long time ago. My friend told me is it but the drama is exaggerated, but looks-wise, clique-wise, social-wise, it’s like that… sounds like a nightmare haha.

Great post! I love Revenge! I know he’s a little strange but I actually really like Nolan :) And the actress that plays Victoria is amazing- she says it all with just a look in her eyes. Emily Thorn does always have beautiful hair! For some reason I keep staring at her eye makeup- especially when they give her a slightly smokey eye. I would love to recreate that look!

    xx Louise

    • Renee May 16, 2012, 1:25 pm

That’s not strange at all! Nolan is my favorite character too :D

I love Emily’s eye makeup as well, I think it’s fairly simple though, they do a smokey eye but they wing it at the outer corners, I think to give her that “look” you know haha. And Victoria is an amazing actress… she is the perfect fit for the role! Not to mention she is so beautiful.

Sounds like a great new show…I’ll go check it out…I’m so over Gossip Girl so new teen show laced with deceit and intrigue plus great hair/makeup + clothes – is right up my alley – lol!

    • Renee May 16, 2012, 5:54 pm

Yay! Let me know how you like it :)

I was reading up about it and the creator said it’s more a soap opera and it’s on a family channel so it’s not really a teen show, which is what I like about it. I think it’s like a “younger audience” soap opera?

  • Sze Ling May 16, 2012, 5:36 pm

I watched the first 2 episodes of Revenge, and gave up. It’s just not my kind of show. I’m more of a House, CSI and Castle kind of girl. :D

But I do love their dresses. Sooooo pretty and classy.

    • Renee May 16, 2012, 5:57 pm

No!!! How could you?! Haha. I get ya – I suppose it’s not for everyone. Like… don’t hate me but I dislike medical dramas so I could never get into House, haha :X What is Castle about, though? I always hear about it.

      • Sze Ling May 17, 2012, 1:58 pm

Castle is about this writer that works with the FBI so that he could get ideas for his books, and help them solve crime as well. Go watch! :D

        • Renee May 17, 2012, 6:14 pm

Ah, FBI! Awesome. My mom and you need to meet! She loves detective shows… CSI and Monk were her favorites… now I’ve hooked her on Revenge LOL!

  • Tiera May 17, 2012, 12:02 am

I’m hooked on revenge! especially the lead male actor(s)! OH YUM! and Emily’s body makes me wanna put extra hours at the gym, oh boy..

    • Renee May 17, 2012, 12:34 am

Oh man I LOVE Nolan (as in his character), but if you want to talk about yum, Mr. Daniel Greyson <3

And oh gosh her body is killer! Totally know what you mean!

  • Serena May 17, 2012, 4:02 am

Isn’t she from another series about a city docter moving to a little town with his son, named Ephram? And than they become lovers? If it’s not her, she sure does look like her! Anyways, I like those nonchalant curls too, but than a little longer, like the Victoria’s Secret Angels! ^^

And I’ve not heard of this series, but you made me curious! Is it also for guys? Maybe me and my BF can watch together! We’re looking for a new show to watch since we finished Dexter and Fringe.

By the way, don’t you love Game of Thrones?? :)

    • Renee May 17, 2012, 9:34 am

No idea if she’s the actress, sorry! But that series sounds scandalous, haha! I remember she was in a show called Everwood which I never saw, but I saw her in magazines and such… so to me she is a “new but familiar” actress, haha :P

And yes, it’s a family show, your boyfriend can definitely watch it as well! It’s sooo good!

And no, I don’t know that show, what’s it about? :)

      • Sona May 17, 2012, 10:21 am

You haven’t heard of Game of Thrones?! IT’S AMAZING! I would tell you what it’s about except I’m rubbish at explaining tv shows, somehow i make them sound unappealing!
I’m hooked on revenge too, I’m loving Nolan, he’s a geek but he ‘lightens’ up the show (it’s pretty intense right?!) and of course Emily, she’s kind of amazing. and I’ve tried to recreate her hair style with zero success :/

Have you heard of the new show Sarah Michelle Gellar is in? Ringer .. I loved it, but it might not be back for a 2nd season :( always the way with my favourite shows!
I’m also loving Hart of Dixie (Big city surgeon sent to small southern town – her big city ways clash with their small town ideals and it makes for some interesting drama! Oh and the romance ;P) .. I put it off for absolutely ages and then one day, i was bored and watched the 1st episode, now I’m hooked!

        • Sona May 17, 2012, 10:24 am

Oh, I should probably mention, Game of Thrones .. definitely NOT a family show haha, nearly every episode has some nudity and such, but it’s a good show :)

        • Renee May 17, 2012, 6:26 pm

I just love Nolan too, he’s so awesome… I love how it’s always THERE even though no one really wants him there, LOL!

Ooh the Ringer sounds good, thanks! It was under the “recommended” for those who like Revenge on IMDB, haha! Ok so I Googled Game of Thorns and it’s a medieval show? Was that the one? I don’t like period pieces :( I tried to watch Hart of Dixie a while ago too but I couldn’t get into the first episode… :( I am so hard to please with TV shows aren’t I? That said I LOVE every movie haha! I will def check out Ringer, thanks so much Sona :) xx

  • Chelsea May 17, 2012, 4:04 pm

Hi there! :) Would you have any idea on where to get White Sands products? I would love to give them a try. Thanks!

    • Renee May 17, 2012, 6:16 pm

Hey Chelsea! The links to where you can buy them are in the post where I mentioned the product; I finally found a place to buy them (couldn’t find them online anywhere else!)

Let me know how you like it! xx

  • Fee May 18, 2012, 10:41 am

I love Revenge! I think it’s fast becoming one of my favourite shows and it’s difficult for me to like a show in the first place! Emily has an amazing body and I love her staring contest look between her and Victoria.

Have to agree with Sona. Game of Thrones is AHMAYZING! Check it out. ;-)

  • anon May 20, 2012, 3:22 am

Thanks for the tips on how to get her hairstyle! I love her hair and she is so pretty. I am so glad Revenge will be returning for a second season. I like how it will be moved to Sundays. I wasn’t able to always catch it on Wednesdays due to working late at Dish. I always recorded it on my Hopper; well the Hopper recorded all the primetime shows which are great. Now I can even skip through commercials in primetime TV. So I watch the shows in half the amount of time. I can’t wait to see what Emily has up her sleeve next season.

  • Kyona May 21, 2012, 1:45 am

OMG! I saw you’re blog on beautylab’s website. And thanks to you I’m addicted to “Revenge”!! I love it so much! I just needed to tell you :p.

    • Renee May 21, 2012, 2:09 am

Ah! That is so great. :) Enjoy it, I can’t wait until Season 2!
