Getting to Know You Better…

Happy Sunday! Bailey, my pup above, looks exactly like how I’m feeling right now: tired and over it! I hope you all had a great weekend… I can’t wait ’til bedtime.

But before I go and dream about the apocalypse (I always dream about the world ending – I wonder what it means?!), I’d love to do a “getting to know you” post. It’s been a year since I’ve done this type of post and I enjoy them so much. I have noticed there are many new readers and would very much like to find out more about you!

So tell me…

  • How old are you? Where are you from?
  • What do you do? Are you currently studying/working?
  • One random fact about yourself?

I think most of you know the first two things about me so I’ll answer the last one! OK… don’t laugh, but I used to be in a band. It lasted one week. They kicked me out because apparently having a “girl” in a rock band doesn’t work.

…HA! OK. I would call Gwen Stefani and ask what she thinks about that, but I think she’s too busy polishing her Grammy.

Your turn! Please don’t be shy and introduce yourself. I look forward to meeting you all!

Hello, Renee! I used to be in a band too. Well, I’m still sort of in it. We figured out that my keyboard kind of clashed with their acoustic guitars, so now I’m kind of like their producer. I’m not sure if that’s a promotion or demotion! Haha

I’m a seventeen year old high school student from California, but right now I’m on summer break. My favourite subject is psychology. I really like history too, but I have trouble memorizing all the names and dates. That’s probably why I like it–it’s always new to me!

Random fact: I want to open up my own animation studio and make movies that are more adult-oriented. For some reason, most American animated movies are targeted towards kids or families. But with foreign cinema, there are animated movies that are more serious too! I love film in general, so I think I’d like to try and get funding for animation by acting and saving money from that. It’s a difficult goal, but I know that one day I’ll accomplish it! (:

Aww, I think promotion? Since you’re overlooking everything? Haha.

Wow, to be honest I never really thought about it, but you’re right… animation does seem to fit the “kids” or family with kids audience. Are there any “adult” animated films you’d recommend? I would really love to check some out! xx

Hi Renee…

I just turned 40 (11 June) and am from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Gosh, I must be the OLDEST chick on here, hahahaha. But what the heck, I do love being 40. It has been really great. I think when you embrace ageing, you will age gracefully.

I am a Banker. Not exactly an exciting job but I do love it. Used to work in the advertising industry for 12 years and I absolutely hated the “dog-eat-dog” industry. Now, I have more personal time, enjoying fabulous benefits from the Bank, makes living and working great.

One random fact about yourself: I love to cook. My signature dishes: Pasta with Prawns in White Wine Sauce and Spicy Fried Rice Noodles with Prawns (almost like Mee Siam style).

Hey Maisie! Oh no you are not the oldest, trust me! My friend just turned 40 and it sounds like a great age! And I totally agree on aging gracefully. At the end of the day age is only a number, right?

And ditto on the advertising industry. I think all creative industries are like that, no? Oh the stories I’ve heard! I was only in it for a VERY short time but hated it as well.

I LOVE YOUR BLOG SO MUCH :D Haha, I probably sound like a stalker but it’s true. I’m Melissa, 15 and from Malaysia. I am a major health nut and all my friends make fun of me when I once took a health drink at school and it was all slimy and green but it was packed with raw foods so I didn’t care :) I had blueberry yoghurt explode in my bag once at school and my bag smelled reeaaallyy good after that.
Something else about me is that I’m in love with Robbie Wadge and Francisco Lachowski, two gorgeous male models. Sad fact is that there are no cute boys in my school. Le sigh.

Renee July 2, 2011 at 19:07

Aw Melissa thank you SO much! Very nice to meet you and KUDOS for taking care of yur health. Ugh, I really really try and have cut down so much on junk food but I just can’t resist ice cream GAH! I need to start eating yoghurt ice cream, is that healthier? Haha.

Will go Google the two models now. Do you know Mathias Lauridsen? Swooooooon! x

I am 14 years old and I am in a high school in Edinburgh, Scotland, studying for my Standard Grades. Random fact: I love shopping for, buying, reading reviews of and wishing for beauty products, but I use very few. It means I have a drawer full of make up, face creams and nail varnishes etc. many of which aren’t used! Most of all I have zillions of lipbalms and I have a sort of rota for them so none of the go to waste :) Love your blog by the way.

Reply

Renee July 2, 2011 at 19:05

Hey Naomi! Thank you :) Omg, Scotland… amazing! I so want to visit there (I want to visit everywhere haha). I’m totally the same when it comes to lipbalms… I have so many and I dump them everywhere (handbags, the kitchen, some are lost inside my couch haha) so I use them all on rotation.

Random thing about me is that I’m a tomboy. That means I enjoy video games and playing sports. But I also enjoy fashion and beauty too!

Hey Jessica! I’m a total tomboy too, or at least I was! I grew up playing soccer, Lego and collection pots of slim haha. Now I’m not really a tomboy but I’m not really a girly-girl, if that makes sense. I’m in-between? Haha.

Do you have any fun plans this Summer? What are summers like in Vancouver? xx

Heia! I’m 27 year old Andrea. Born Singaporean, migrated to NZ at 16 and lived there for 10 years and now restarting life in Norway.
Currently I am a bum. I was working with Canon in NZ when I decided that I wanted to see the world and so I did! That was about 16 months ago. Now I’m trying to find a job in Norway that doesn’t require me to speak Norsk…at least not yet until my classes start!
Random fact: I’ve eaten whale meat! And moose, reindeer, caribou, arctic char, seal…all part of my travel experience! I’ll let you know when I get my hands on polar bear meat. :)

Btw, I think you’d give your band the extra x-factor! I mean, look at what Fergie did for The Black Eyed Peas or Haley did for Paramore??!! Their loss!

Hey Renee!
Name’s Esmé, I’m 16, from Singapore! Found your blog off googling for a product review on The Body Shop if I’m not wrong on a trip to Bali. I’m currently studying for an ever so painful, yet hopefully rewarding IB Diploma (although it really should be called the Eye Bag Diploma), but reading your blog is pretty much my little “bedtime story” every night. I guess a random fact about myself is that I’m ambidextrous…and I can move my ears? Ahaha. Oh, and perhaps the fact that I’m probably not the type that’ll come across as a beauty junkie, and I’ve been told by my friends that I’m the girliest ungirly person they’ve ever met! Ahaha! Really love your blog by the way! It’s like a breath of fresh air, couldn’t actually believe you were from Singapore until I found out you were half Danish! Ahaha!
