Eyeshadow + Vaseline = Instant Lipgloss

June 11, 2010

Sigh. I guess I don’t really even need to write anything because the title says it all!

Anyway – if you have a favorite eyeshadow color and you want it as a lip color too, (and in a short amount of time) here’s something you can do. First, rub some eyeshadow on the back of your hand. Dip your finger in some Vaseline and mix it with the eyeshadow so the two blend. Ta-da! Your new favorite lipgloss.

This is especially useful for those who want more ‘out there’ lip colors that are usually easier to find in eyeshadow form. Whether you wat to experiment with bright purple lips one day, bright orange the next, mixing Vaseline with your eyeshadow really works! (Granted you have a lot of eyeshadows, of course.) If you want even more sparkle you can even add glitter to the mix, like the girl in the photo above.

Have you ever tried doing this with your favorite eyeshadow color?

Wow! I have never heard of such a thing xD
It’s kinda cool…I might just have to try it some time..
Won’t it dry out and crumble off after some time though? :S
Have you tried it?

Yes, I’ve tried it. i wouldn’t recommend it all the time though, but for a quick fix it does work :) And nope, no crumbling, since Vaseline eats the eyeshadow all up, haha.

Just don’t use anything blue or that contains blue unless you KNOW it’s lipsafe.

Yes, of course. Straight-up mica from most mineral makeup companies is safe for lips, I believe.

Great tips, Renee!! :)

FYI: Do not use eyeshadow that contains Ultramarine colors (i.e Ultramarine Red…) as they are not approved for use on lips.

Have fun creating your own “personalized” lip gloss, gals!!

Just kidding! Any eyeshadow will work as long as the ingredients are safe for lips. ^_^

Yay! I hate lipgloss too but Vaseline isn’t as sticky so I much prefer it. Try it out and let me know how it works for you! :D

Wow, I never tried this, I guess I can always find out new things. I have a lot of pink eyeshadows shades that will look great on my lips. :)

i totally love doing this with all my eye shadow!
not only does it keep my lips soft but it also makes them really glittery, depending on which one i use.

i just tried this with a clear chapstick and a pink/rose colored mineral (baked) eyeshadow (that looks awful on my eyes, lol)….it looks really nice on my lips. I just swiped the chapstick on my lips and dabbed the eyeshadow overtop, worked great. Not sure how it will be an hour from now. thanks for the tip.
