Review: Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue Perfume

May 8, 2008

dolce and gabbana light blue perfume

Though Light Blue is a fairly old fragrance, it is one of the top selling fragrances for women in the US and Europe – and I know exactly why.

Light Blue brings back tons of memories. At 15 years old, it was my very first perfume I ever owned. I first saw it in an advertisement in Teen People magazine (RIP, my love) with a sample fragrance strip, and it was love at first whiff – I adored the clean, fresh scent and immediately asked it for Christmas.

Notes include Sicilian Citron, Bluebell, Granny Smith Apple, White Rose, Cedar wood, Amber, Musk, resulting in a crisp, fresh, everyday fragrance. There is something so undeniably “clean” and proper about this fragrance, yet is so charming and feminine thanks to the musk. The design of the bottle is simple and stunning, andĀ fits the scent perfectly.

The fragrance has had a “either you love it or hate it” response, but I adore it – it’s a perfect ten in my book.

I don’t really fancy too many parfums but Light Blue is one of those special ones. It is a fresh, light airy scent. I get many compliments from it. It is only a day scent, it is very citrus, fresh, for active beautiful women. And I am absolute in agreement with the bottle. It is simple and beautiful. I highly recommend this parfum too!

i LOVE this scent. A little old like you said but a classic in its own right. Every one should try it out :)

I bought a 5o ml EDT from a supermarket. It was the first full bottle of perfume I bought for myself. Pricy too. I felt guilty for buying it and rarely wore it and so I didn’t get to appreciate it very much. Finally I decided that since I bought it I should wear it without a guilt and tried to wear it but I’m not sure, the juice didn’t agree with me. Probably because it was already gathering dust before I got it at the retail shelf. The fragrance doesn’t last on my skin. The first whiff of bluebells and granny smiths dissipate into a mess of this synthetic metallic smell. I’m guessing this is the musk and let me tell you, it’s truly awful: think of the smell of cheap jewellery after clutching them in your hand. I felt [and to my nose, smelled] gross. I thought maybe if I sprayed more product on, it would smell better. But it didn’t that metallic smell always lingers. I’m very disappointed!

Nowadays I wear Issey Miyake and CK One. They’re both fresh scents. I’m thinking of purchasing Armani Code for Women next or maybe branch out to a rich chypre…….

I’m sorry to hear about Light Blue for you! Sometimes some fragrances just don’t agree with our chemistry; that’s why some fragrances smell lovely on others and smell horrible on someone else!

I too love CK One, good choice! :D
