Dip Dye Hair Color – Crazy or Cool?

dip dye hair trend

I spy with my little eye – a new hair trend. Ombre hair is so over, y’all – it’s all about dip dying now!

Like Ombre’s crazy little rebellious sister, dip dying is sorta like ombre – except there is not “subtly changing from one color to the next” – this is bold, in your face, and has captured my heart. I had originally written this post just as an opinion piece on the hair trend, but when I received a press release from Xtreme Hair Art about this trend and how to achieve it at home, I was thrilled and HAD to try it out.

Xtreme Hair Art is a Godsend because it can give you this cool look without the commitment (and damage). Just spray it on (or rub it in if you have the liquid version) and voila! you’ve got the look. I am SO happy to have tried them out because as much as I love this hair trend, I am not too fond on bleaching or dying my hair. My hair is already so damaged from a perm some time back, dying it would be killer!

Unfortunately Xtreme Hair Art is not available in Asia, but it’s available in Boots in the UK, VAG in France, Clicks in South Africa and River Gauche. So if you have any friends in those countries, tell them to send you some ASAP. Affordable, easy to use and does the job well… not to mention you’ll have amazing looking hair! Love it.

What do you think of the dip-dye trend? It is crazy or cool? ;) And what color would you try? I like blue the best. I think blue and brown hair looks really great together! :)

That’s pretty cool, my dyed hair has grown out so it looks like this and everyone says oh I love your hair! Did you dye it like that on purpose? I tell them nope lol it grew out! They get all surprised

I rock my pink dip dyed hair for three months now after 6 months with ombre. I LOVE it and don’t plan on changing my color soon, although people in my town look at me like I’m crazy :P

Hey Renee!

I actually have dip-dyed hair and I LOVE IT. I’m Vietnamese so bleaching my black hair blonde on the ends was a scary thought…but I took the plunge! I use Atomic Turquoise by Manic Panic and After Midnight Blue. I put focus the turquoise on my ends then ombre the after midnight blue up to my natural hair color… so it goes from light turquoise to deep blue then my natural black hair. It’s a really cool effect…. sort of merging the two trends together? Anyways… I absolutely love it. I only bleached about up until just past my shoulders so the best part is for work I just wrap my hair in a bun and it’s hidden.
TIP: Protein conditioning packs are KEY after you bleach your hair. NOT necessarily moisture… just a thought ;]

Hey that’s a nice trend transition. Bleached blonde ombre from last year is ready for color. But I’ll still sticking with my ombre clip ins. I can’t seem to find the right color combo.

Have you tried using strips of t-shirts and then sleeping on it? In French, it’s called en papillote, and it gives you loose curls overnight that are really easy to tousle into the perfect waves. It’s also pretty comfortable. You cut strips of a T-shirt into 6x1in. strips and double them up and wind big sections of hair around them. You roll each one up like a curler and tie the ends off to hold. If you shower at night you just put some mousse through towel dried hair beforehand. It takes a little bit of practice just to see what works best for your hair texture etc, but once you get the hang of it it is SO easy and wonderful. There are a lot of tutorials on YouTube and online too if I didn’t explain it well enough, ha.

Thanks so much, I’m gonna try that. it sounds a lot easier than doing it with my straightener, which I am HORRIBLE at doing, and everyone else makes it look so easy, but maybe my hair just doesn’t want to do it, but thank you again. Sounds great!

I love the whispy ones. The one that is just flat layer one color than the next looks like crap but that girl whoever she is always looks terrible in everything she does.
If I had blonde hair I would totally go for it.

Hi Renee,

Can I ask if there’s any good bleaching kits sold in Singapore? I’ve been trying to bleach my own hair but I do not know what to use. I don’t really want to go to a salon to do it, I rather do this myself.

Thanks for this.
