My Lips (Aren’t) Sealed: Meet My New Favorite Lippie

And isn’t he handsome? Sure, I say I’ve found the perfect lipstick/lipbalm/lipgloss, but this is a bit different. Pinky promise. It’s my favorite type of lip product – a crayon; and a cute, chubby one at that. I’ve always loved lip crayons – they are so cute (!!!) and their pointed tip make for a more precise application. I’ve loved Bobbi Brown’s lip crayons for a while now (still love ‘em!), but this one from Clinique is just fantastic. It’s officially called the Clinique Chubby Stick Moisturizing Lip Color Balm, but who has time for that?! Let’s just call him The Chubs, as I’ve lovingly nicknamed mine.

The Chubs come in 8 colors, and the color pictured above is Whole Lotta Honey, a pretty nude that is great for everyday wear. (Next on my list is Chunky Cherry, a super bright red… yum!) And other than the practical packaging (it’s so easy to just pop in your pocket) and the ease of application (no sharpening required!), I am most impressed with the moisturizing properties. I have super dry lips, so if I can wear a lip product without having to painfully apply lip balm underneath first, and doesn’t cause any flaking, then I know have myself a winner. Also, The Chubs feels so light on your lips, it’s as if you’re not wearing anything at all – and there’s nothing worse than feeling that nasty, heaviness on your lips, am I right?

In other words, well done Clinique. A star product all-round.

Have you tried Clinique’s Chubby Sticks yet? Let me know if you get the chance to try it out – I love The Chubs, and I think you will too!

I have Mega Melon, and I love it! It’s like a lip balm with color that lasts. Perfection.
(Next on the list: Super Strawberry and Chunchy Cherry!)

It is like a lip balm, isn’t it? I prefer lip balms the most!

Gyudy April 29, 2011 at 22:53

Yes, it totally is! Like you, I have super dry lips: the only two twings i can apply without lipbalm underneath are Clinique Chubby Stick and Estee Lauder Lipstick (I have it in Crystal Baby – totally recommended!), but Chubby is really like a lipbalm, amazing!

Hi there, I have 5 of these babies, Mega Melon, Super Strawberry, Chunky Cherry, Fuller Fig and Woppin’ Watermelon. My favourites are Mega elon & Super Strawberry, such beautiful shades :) by the way, this is actually the 2nd generation Chubby Sticks from Clinique, many moons ago, they had a version which is more matte and required sharpening, you may be too young to have used that ;) I am loving the newer, more moisturising version :)

Aw, had no idea they actually had them before! Glad they’ve improved so much, really love the “no sharpening” packaging, makes life so much easier. Need to get my hands on more of the shades asap! I wish they’d make a really bright coral/orange color. :(

Way awesome! It’s SGD$26, pretty good price I think – cheaper than the other lip color sticks I’ve seen.

I mean that I also have a Chubby Stick. Ummmmmmm…..

Ok….

Anyway, I have Chunky Cherry, Renee! I think it’ll look great on you!

Yay, chubby sisters <3 :D

Ugh, just found out they didn’t bring Chunky Cherry in! They only brought in 4 of the shades to Singapore. Bah, always happens! Think I need to try out the sticks from NARS as well, they seem to have some super bright colors.

I have been wanting this in Super Strawberry for the longest time! But everywhere I go it’s been out of stock somehow! : ((

Reply

Renee April 29, 2011 at 12:03

Asked Clinique and they said it’s all sold out everywhere, ugh of course! Said they are getting new stock asap, it’s one of their best sellers!

Charlotte April 29, 2011 at 21:39

How much did it cost? (:

I love these – started out just wanting one, ended up with the whole set!

The one I wanted most though – Super Strawberry – is sold out in Hong Kong. Clinique staff had no idea when it would be back in stock.

Also only 4 shades in HK – Strawberry, Honey, Melon and Watermelon. I’ve seen there are 8 shades in the States yet also there are some different colours in UK – curiouser and curiouser!

Does this one last long on the lips or do you have to keep reapplying?

I have sensitive skin..

When I tried the clinique moisturizer – I broke out in welts on my chin and nose….painful, dry and burning. The lady at the Clinique counter “convinced” me that I needed to stick with the moisturizer.

The issue just compounded.

The moisturizer is WAY too drying. So I stopped using it all

I switched to Shielo’s Complexion Moisturizer, with the Shielo Anti-Aging Complexion Scrub (as my face wash) and within 2 days, I had NO itchy bumps on my forehead. The welts disappeared. I also had beautiful plump hydrated eyes.

I ended up buying 2 more moisturizers and gifted one to my sister who now loves it! Shielo is “allergy tested, dermatologist recommended” products.

Look at the ingredients…for one thing, Clinique does not list them online and are very reluctant to give out when you call….go with Shielo if you finally realize clique is not working out for you….

I’m longing to get this now…I want a “lipstick” thingy that won’t smear all over. Is this it?

I bought this about four days before I found your blog! I have it in whole lotta honey too, and it’s fantastic, especially as an alternative to lipstick, which I find too shiny. This is a great colour!
