Agnes B BB Cream Review

December 4, 2011

agnes b bb cream

Wow that’s a lot of Bs in the title. Agnes B BB Cream, say it really fast!

Anyway, Agnes B has launched a makeup range which I got a chance to take a look at and so far, it all seems really cute. Nothing earth shattering, but cute, compact makeup… reminds me of The Body Shop makeup.

One thing that “stood out” the most from their collection was their BB Cream. As if I need to tell you that there is a major BB Cream craze here in Asia (Exhibit A, B, C, D), so I wanted to see how this fared with some of the other ones I’ve tried. (So far, I am still loving Bobbi Brown’s BB Cream the best.)

Honestly, there is not muh to say about this BB Cream – which means it’s good. When I find there’s not much to say, it means it does it’s job and that’s good enough for me. The color is natural – no weird pinks or white cast on my face), it blends nicely and the coverage is fair. I like it, it’s really not bad at all. I like how it’s a cute, compact little tube and my skin looks nice in it… seriously, that’s all I gotta say! I don’t know what else to say about it, it’s good. Good. Good!

Have you tried Agnes B’s BB Cream? What did you think? Got anything better to say than “it’s good”? :-P

egyptian magic skin cream

Y’know, I knew everyone wanted to walk like an Egyptian, but I never knew they held the power to super soft, smooth skin! But apparently they do, so says the makers of Egyptian Magic Cream, an all-purpose skin cream that is making waves around Hollywood and the world.

Featuring ingredients of olive oil, beeswax, honey, bee pollen, royal jelly, bee propolis and “divine love” (nice!) this skin cream counts everyone from Supermodel Karolina Kurkova, Rachel Zoe, Madonna and Kate Hudson, whose hairdresser calls it her “big night beauty trick”… and we all know how stunning Kate Hudson’s hair is!

Said to heal cuts and scrapes, moisturize skin, soothe eczema and skin rashes, moisturize hair, AND much more, it reminds me very much of Vaseline, minus the goopy, oily petroleum-jelly feel. Sure, the skin cream is very oily too, but it doesn’t have that greasy feel that Vaseline had (which I always hated). And though the celebs and models swears it makes their skin smooth, everyone knows that as an ex-acne sufferer, I am paranoid so there is NO WAY I am putting oil on my skin… ever. EVER! OK fine, I would for a million dollars. Either way, I’ve been using this cream for my dry areas on the body, especially my feet (which are now ridiculously baby soft), elbows, knees and even dry cuticles, and it’s amazing.

britney spears cosmic radiance perfume

First of all, let me start with an apology because there are a million puns I can use with Britney Spears. Forgive me.

Anyway, on the the review. This is Britney’s 10th (!) fragrance, so you know her perfume business is doing amazing – and for good reason, too: anyone remember Curious? That still is one of my favorite (if not favorite) celebrity scent. I’ve been eyeing Cosmic Radiance for a while now (ashamed to admit only because of the pretty bottle!) and couldn’t wait to get my hands on it.

britney spears cosmic radiance perfume

I got the perfume from Perfume Store, the largest online perfume retailer in Singapore. Delievery was super fast and I even got a free sample of another fragrance, which I thought was a very nice touch.

Cosmic Radiance features notes of amber and vanilla, a touch of jasmine and light top notes of refreshing mandarin and pear, this scent is similar to other Britney scents in that it is sweet; yet different because it feels like a more “grown up” sweet. It’s grown up without being too young, perfect for those who are Not A Girl, Not Yet A Woman. Unfortunately, the staying power is so-so; which Drives Me Crazy, I wish it were Stronger, so I will be using this staying power tip. ;)  Still, it is a great scent for all ages, the bottle is beautiful (I know some think it’s tacky but I think it’s quite cute – then again I love anything black and white!), and… well, it’s Britney Spears – I am sure her fans would love this. Fan or not though, I think this would make a really beautiful Christmas gift this year.

Have you tried Cosmic Radiance yet? What do you think?

lemongrass house rilla blend

An exciting new product range from Lemongrass House, one of my favorite bath and body brands, is launching TODAY!

The range is a collaboration with Singapore local celebrity Rilla Melati from Suria Channel, a full range of a scent she created with Lemongrass House, aptly named Rilla Blend. A heavenly blend of champaca, vanilla and tangerine, this scent is simply gorgeous – I am especially OBSESSED with the shower gel! As you all know, I immediately love anything vanilla scented, so I loved this range. What’s even nicer is that while you can smell the vanilla, it has the citrus-y smell of tangerine, which makes it such a nice combination of contrasting scents.

What’s even better, of course, is that this range is all for charity. That’s right – 100% of profits going to Jamiyah Children’s Home (Darul Ma’wa) – a charity very close to Rilla’s heart. I urge you to try it out at the shops and help this great cause. (I for one will be stocking up on their shower gels!)

My Daily Vanilla Fix

bomb cosmetics chilla vanilla shower

As a vanilla lover, I’m always really bummed out that Asia seems to HATE anything vanilla. Ugh! For example, The Body Shop stores here do not carry their Vanilla range and when I asked why, they said that “Vanilla doesn’t sell well in Asia.” Apparently, vanilla is too boring. Well excuse me! I love Vanilla so I was absolutely delighted when my friend Glo (who is leaving Singapore forever soon, sniff sniff) got this for my birthday. I’ve been using it religiously ever since and adore it! I have never heard of Bomb Cosmetics (until I checked out their site; reminds me of Lush!) but I am really loving what they have to offer so far. The shower butter is a thick solid balm that warms up in your palms and spreads nicely over your skin. Furthermore, it has a really sweet bubble-gum vanilla smell. I was especially happy when I found out that Bomb Cosmetics products are all handmade and natural – that’s always a big plus for me!

Has anyone else tried Bomb Cosmetics? What did you think? And anyone else completely obsessed with vanilla? :D

skin art temporary tattoos

OK fine… I’m kidding. I’m so lame, I’ve always wanted to say that. But anyone who knows me will know my NUMBER ONE fear in life are needles… so it’s safe to say I will never getting a tattoo. Which is fine, because now I can have Skin Art Temporary Tattoos. ;)

Skin Art is a celebrity inspired temporary tattoo set and I am SO happy to be introduced to it by PR superstar, Amy. She sent me a press release and I HAD to be shameless and ask if I could have a sample to review because as you know, I simply adore tattoos but I’m too damn chicken to get one. I’ve wanted to look for temporary tattoos, but all they have here are the kinds for little boys, aka spiderman and dragons and stuff… no thanks. Skin Art, however, brings us temporary tattoos that actually look COOL.

The set comes with 99 designs, ranging from angel wings, anchors (my favorite!!!), tribal designs, stars, hearts… just cool, little cute symbols that are so my style. As Amy explains, the point of the tatts are to “recreate celeb looks without the permanency. Fashion and beauty should be fun and allow you to try new things without the fear of scarring yourself.” Isn’t she clever?! I totally agree – these tatts are so much fun and are prefect to play around with and change up your look. ALSO, it takes less than 30 seconds to do (I’m serious) and they last a very long time. I tried on a little peace sign on my wrist about 3 weeks ago and though it’s only about 40% gone – not shabby at all. So I’d say they are perfect for 2 weeks.

In conclusion; because they are SO much fun, because they are easy to apply, because they last a long time and because they are so affordable… they get top marks in my book! Probably my best “style” find… ever. I’m seriously obsessed. You can get them at Boots, or online at Boots.com or Amazon.co.uk.

Tell me – are you into temporary tattoos? What’s your “dream” tattoo? I’ve always wanted an anchor on my ankle… and now I can get it!

collagen by watsons

Watsons sent over their new Collagen range and I am so overwhelmed! (In a good way… where do I begin?!) The have just released a full range (this picture isn’t even all of it!) of collagen skincare products that include everything from hand cream to night cream, to sheet masks to toners. It’s definitely worth checking out if you’re at Watsons – the ingredients are from Germany and promise to moisturize the skin and revive elasticity. So far I am in love with the body lotion – my “measure” to see if a lotion is fully moisturizing is to see if I can still feel it on my skin the next day (I usually apply body lotion only at night before I sleep). Happy to report it does, and I love the calming powdery floral scent of the products. Can’t wait to try out the rest! (The masks are next on my list). Let me know if you’ve tried any of them too, and tell me what you think.
