Oh no! Looks like cutie pie actress Selena Gomez is having a bit of a concealer disaster. It seems her makeup artist went a bit too light on the color and then over-powdered the area.
To avoid the “too-light” concealer look, remember to look at the colors. It is a universal tip that when choosing concealer, a color one shade lighter is the best, but really, finding a color that matches your skin tone exactly is probably the best. Also, look for more salmon-based colors for concealers (rather than yellow) as they camouflage the blue in the dark circles much better than yellow. Plus – it looks a much more natural.
After applying your concealer, apply a translucent loose powder over to set – not a colored powder. This creates too much product around the eyes and have the overpowered, overdone look like we can see here.
Have you ever experienced some concealer mishaps? Care to share?

This tip that’s been floating around a lot and seems to be a popular ‘ritual’ for lovers of dewy-skin. While I haven’t personally tried it myself, logically it sounds right. However, I’m just a little hesitant that if done incorrectly, this might do more harm than good!
Basically, the tip is this: after applying all your makeup, have a bubble bath for 10-15 minutes. The steam from the hot water will sit on your makeup, and the moisture will make it looks plump, dewy and fresh.
I’ve read that celebrities swear by this tip before a red carpet so it looks great in pictures, though personally it does sound like it could be a bit of a risk – imagine your makeup melting and ending up in ruins. You’d just have to reapply everything again! But everything is worth a try, eh?!
Have you tried doing this before? What do you think of this tip? Personally I find it a bit strange, but what can I say, it’s Hollywood right?
No matter how superficial it may sound, girls, let’s just admit it: One of the beauty hurdles we obsess over is trying to find that darn haircut that make us look – and feel – fantastic! And really, hair makes such a big difference to transform your look, so why wouldn’t you want to get it right? Luckily, there are a few tips and tricks to help us when we have no idea where to look… and get this – it all boils down to our face shape.
Once we have figured out what our face shape is, it is so much easier to find out what cuts and styles can flatter our face, making our search much less traumatic (don’t get me started on all the ‘trial and error’ I had to go through to find a cut that looked decent on me!).
How To Find Your Face Shape
Here’s a short exercise that has been used since… well, ever, to determine your face shape. To start, grab yourself a tube of lipstick and a mirror. Facing the mirror, trace the outline of your face with the lipstick on the mirror. Then step back and examine the shape you have drawn. It is an oval? Is it a little square? It is heart-shaped? Is it round? Once you’ve figured out the shape, you’ve gotten your face shape. Easy, hey?

One of the many winter concerns my friends have (who live in countries that actually have winter – our winter here in Singapore is just rain!) is that they start to look really pasty and lose their summer color. And while there’s really no need to have a full-on tan in winter, if you want a bit of color, you can try self tanners. However, you can dilute the self tanner by mixing it with a bit of body lotion, so that the color is very light and still natural (a full blown tan in winter? No one’s gonna believe it!)
Also, mixing the self tanner with lotion allows for more even application and can help greatly if you’re a beginner, because this method cuts down any chance of mishaps. For your face, you can do the same – mix facial self tanner with your facial moisturizer and just apply like you normally would moisturizer.
Have you tried using self tanner? How do you make the application even?
P.S. I know it’s been a bit quiet here, I do apologize! I am working on a big surprise for Beauty Fool for the new year and am also working on a lot of behind-the-scenes stuff. Hang in there, I promise it’s gonna be great!
TGIF! Happy Friday, everyone. Apologies that Beauty Tip of the Week is a day late this week.

Anyway, this week’s tip is more of a reminder than anything. There is nothing worse than removing your eye makeup, only to find you’ve lost half your lashes in the process! Not the end of the world, obviously, but it is annoying to think that if it goes on, you could lose all of them! So to remove mascara in the most gentle way, remember these steps:
- Soak the cotton pad.
- Pat the cotton pad on your lids to allow the mascara formula to loosen up from your eyelashes.
- Gently ‘massage’ the area in small circular motions.
- Swipe off gently.
Just remember one thing – do not rub! This can cause too much weight on your lashes and you might risk losing some of them. Always be gentle to your delicate eye area.
How do you remove your mascara or eye makeup with losing eyelashes? I used to be totally rough and lose up to 5 eyelashes each day (!!!) but when I started to be more gentle, I never lost any.
What?! Thursday already? You know what that means… Beauty Tip of the Week!
Here’s something for those nasty post-acne scars and red marks we tend to get – just look in your kitchen cabinet!

Vitamin E oil capsules are great supplements for glowing, beautiful skin, but the capsules can actually be used readily for post-acne scars. All you have to do is prick a Vitamin E capsule and rub the oil over the post acne scar.
Or if you’d like to try another oil, my best friend tells me that rosehip oil is amazing for fading post-acne scars as well.
What do you do to fade post acne scars? After that glycolic nasty burn (yes, sorry, this is the last time I’ll talk about it!) I could use all the help I can get… I want these red marks gone!
P.S. Happy Thanksgiving to my American friends!
It seems that lemon is the go-to for any beauty fixes. We’ve already talked about how to use lemon for natural, sun-kissed hair highlights and the many health benefits of lemon water. And now, here’s a tip from supermodel-talk-show-host Tyra Banks about stains on your nails.
If you’re like me and adore dark nail polishes (but don’t adore the staining that can come after it, Tyra suggests using a slice of lemon and rubbing it on your nail. Its natural bleaching properties will help your nail look healthy again!
Oh – and if you do love dark nail polishes, remember to use a base coat – it’s a must! I use black a lot and always use base coat, and have never had a staining problem. Base coats are inexpensive and are a lifesaver. But of course, if you forget this time, don’t forget the lemon!
Have you tried this tip – does it work for you?
