Cheerobics, a brand new workout DVD that promises just that – aerobics and cheerleading dance moves that is “fat burning fun!” while giving you a serious workout.
I received Cheerobics DVD a few weeks ago and was really excited when I found out about it – as you know, I pretty much hate exercise even though I really need it (actually, we all need it! Yes, you too!). And who else is so bored of running, walking or swimming? I know I am!
Don’t be fooled though – this is a full on workout. The first time I tried it out, I stopped after 20 minutes because I am completely unfit, but have been keeping up at it and am getting better. The moves are taught very well (there is a specific section of the DVD for you to learn the moves first), but unfortunately I have two left feet, so this took me a while before I really “got” it. The workout itself starts off with cardio, then floor exercises and finishes off with a nice 7 minute stretch – you’ll love it! The DVD also comes with your very own cheerleading pompoms, so expect to work those arms a lot!

If you’re looking to shape your lifestyle, now you can on to the go with NESTLE’s new iPhone App, which you can download at the Apple App store.

I have heard about Nestle’s 14 Day Fitnesse Challenge a few months back and have been intrigued. The idea is simple – eat their Fitnesse cereal for breakfast and dinner, and another well balanced meal for lunch. It first intrigued me because I LOVE to have cereal for dinner – and who knew it could actually be good for you? And if you’re like everyone else who has an iPhone then you’ve got to check out their app. (Or, if you’re patiently waiting for the iPhone 5 like me, you can access the app online here for now.)

Since I am not an iPhone user yet, I’ll give a review of the online version. (However, if you do have an iPhone, you should definitely check it out as there is much more on the app itself.) Filled with meal plans, more info on the program, a BMI calculator, as well as countless fitness and wellness tips, this is a must-have app for anyone who’s focused on healthy living (as we all should be!). I especially loved the BMI calculator (always helpful) and Fitness and Wellness Tips the best – as a “newbie” in healthy living, I could use all the help I can get!
Furthermore, to celebrate the launch of this exciting new app, there is a contest going on. After you’ve gotten your fitter, healthier body, NESTLE wants to reward you with a Chic Wardrobe Makeover worth $500. Here’s what to do:
Simply:
- Grab any box of FITNESSE cereals.
- Take a photo of yourself with it.
- Upload your photo with a caption (go on, show off your funny side – the wittier and funnier, the better!).
The photos with the most “likes” stands to win a Chic Wardrobe Makeover worth $500 or 5 adidas-FITNESSE Kits worth $80! So what are you waiting for? Grab a box of FITNESSE cereal and start snapping away now! Contest closes 31 Aug 2011. Oh, and don’t forget to update this app as there will be many more contests in the future!
Have you tried out NESTLE’s 14 Day Program App? What did you think of it? Bought myself a box of it today to try it out, and can’t wait to download the app on my future iPhone!

If you follow me on Twitter, you’d know that on Monday morning I woke up with the nastiest infection on my eyelid. And while many of you assumed it was due to makeup, it actually wasn’t – I haven’t worn it in weeks! It was however, the cause of something totally random: hand cream. I slather on hand cream every night (perhaps too much) and rubbed my eyes a little too hard that night, forgetting that my hands were filled with all that gunk. I can only assume my eyes do not like Nivea in it, so BOOM! infection the next day. Gross.
This got me thinking about how precious our eyes are. With all the makeup and beauty products that go near it – how can we prevent all sorts of nastiness that could happen to them? Here are some ways I can think of:
1. Take it from me: don’t accidently rub your eyes when you have hand cream on!
2. Sharpen your eyeliner pencil before every use, and remember to clean your sharpener regularly.
3. Do not share eye makeup of any kind, especially mascara and eyeliner.
4. Do not share contact lenses or let friends “borrow” them. (I heard about this “trend” a few years ago – don’t ever do this!)
5. When tight-lining your eyes, remember these tips to keep it as hygienic as possible.
6. Throw away mascara after 3 months – regardless if it “still looks good”. Better to be safe than sorry.
7. Always remove all traces of your eye makeup before going to sleep – don’t ever sleep with it on!
Basically – take care of your eyes!
Anymore points to add?

I am so happy to be writing this – I never thought this day would come.
As some of you might remember, last summer, I noticed my body going through, what I can only describe as “freaky sh*t”. I gained 12 kgs (26 lbs) almost overnight, my skin starting breaking out like mad, and my period was no where to be found, and my mood swings… good grief, I was a monster. My poor mother. Extremely worried/scared/disgusted, I went to a doctor who diagnosed me with “a very sudden hormonal change” which resulted in insulin resistance and what he suspected was PCOS.
I immediately went on meds for awhile to balance out the hormones, which worked pretty quick. However, I still had the insulin resistance issue to deal with, which was really tough. Basically, my doc said I had to try to lose weight naturally as a “test” – it would be hard because my body was working against it, but I had to try. Because if I couldn’t lose the weight naturally, then it meant my insulin resistance was very bad, and I’d need serious drugs ’cause things could get worse – anyway, check out the original post for the full details. Thankfully, I did manage to lose the weight – I was determined not to take the drugs, and I hated the weight and wanted it gone! So for this post I’d just like to talk about how I lost it, because I’ve had a few questions about it.

You see this plastic tub of heaven? I used to stuff my face with these every night before bed while watching TV, and then wash them down with a whole packet of Kit Kats… disgusting, I know. Since my PCOS scare, I’ve taken a lot of steps to get healthy – and as horrible as that experience was, I think that that whole ordeal was a real eye opener to what my horrible diet was doing to my body. One of the things I am really committed to is beating my sugar addiction and getting rid of it (especially junk food) from my diet.
So if you’re interested in ways to slowly cut off sugar from your diet, here are some tips that have helped me to beat my sugar addiction and drastically reduce my intake of it.
Say HELL NO to soft drinks.
Soft drinks (or soda, fizzy drinks, whatever you call them) are so bad for you, it’s not even worth it. It’s literally nothing but sugar. Luckily I’ve always hated sodas, so half the battle was won with this one, but really – just say no. Drink water instead.
Don’t buy junk food and sugary snacks in the first place.
It’s so much easier to avoid something when it’s just not there. Also, don’t go grocery shopping on an empty stomach or when you’re emotional – you’ll just reach for all the “bad” stuff! I forbid my Mom to buy any of the junk I used to eat. And yes – the first week I was cranky, moody and craving sugar like mad (I almost felt like a drug addict), but once that week is over, it became much easier. Just make sure it’s not around you so you’re not tempted and stick it out – you can do it! Eventually you’ll lose your longing for them. (I used to adore greasy prawn crackers like crazy, but now I find them gross!)
Eat Fruits – lots of it.
When you get a craving for something sweet, reach for fruits. They are naturally sweet and are actually good for you! Growing up, I hated fruits. My Mom would run around the house chasing me, forcing me to eat a piece of papaya. Nowadays, I crave for fruits and one of my favorite snacks is a big bowl of fruits – can you believe it?! If I can learn to love fruits, I swear you can too. Just give it a chance.
