Crazy or Cool?

Have you ever touched a newborn baby’s skin? My goodness, you must.

My cousin had a son over a month ago (Gareth we love you!!!) and recently at my other cousin’s wedding, I met him and I couldn’t stop stroking his cheeks because they were so ridiculously soft. And he has NO PORES. For real. Why are babies so perfect?!

Anyway, I recently read that Leighton Meester’s makeup artist, Amy Tagliamonti, knows the highly-coveted baby-skin and uses Mustela’s Hydra-Bébé Body Lotion on the star on the set of Gossip Girl. She says Leighton loves the way it makes her skin glow and smell baby fresh, not to mention it makes her skin ridiculously baby soft.

It also reminded me that last week, before meeting a friend, I was bumming around at an organic shop and was mesmerized at the baby “beauty” section (which were pretty much all bath and body products). I asked if adults can use baby products, and the owner of the store said of course, that many women use baby products. I had no idea!

That has got me wondering… do you use baby products? I use baby oil sometimes, does that count? I can imagine using baby products would be great for those with sensitive skin, as we’ve been discussing recently!

P.S. Can you guess who that bald baby is? :D

Violent Lips Tattoo Design

I think Violent Lips really needs no introduction! Everyone from Lady Gaga to Jessie J to Kim Kardashian has been sporting crazy lip designs, all thanks to this company that makes temporary lip tattoos.

But what do you think of them? Would you wear them, or HAVE you worn them? I won’t knock it ’til I try it, and though some designs seem really fun, I don’t know if I would ever dare to try them on! Designs range from Union Jack designs, glitter designs (those are the tamer ones!), animal print… and don’t get me started on the colors. From blue to hot pink to yellow to rainbow colored lips… there’s every color you can imagine.

So please tell me: lip tattoos – are they crazy or cool for you? While I think these would be great for parties, Halloween, etc, I can’t see myself wearing them all the time, so it would be under the “special occasion” category. But it’s definitely a “cool” for me!

My colleague has been touting that the “next big thing” in skincare is snail secretion! Apparently it’s really good for your skin. I couldn’t believe it would ever catch on, until I saw the video below:

What do you think? Would you dare try it? Or if you have, let me know!

Personally, I’d have to say a big OH HECK NO from me, but then again – if it’s all packaged up nicely and I can’t tell the difference between that any any other normal skin cream, I suppose it’s OK? Anyone else agree that if it looks “alright” you would still try it out?! Eeks. Still a little weird for me.

matte nail polish trend

Oh my goodness. When was the last time we did one of these?! Anyway, I love a good nail trend – nail polish is one of my favorite ways to “change” my look, which is ironic ’cause I remember in grade school all the girls wore nail polish and I absolutely hated it! I guess I’m a late bloomer, because now I am obsessed. I leave my fingernails alone most of the time, but my toenails must never be without a pedicure! And although I have liked all the past nail trends (gray nails, pastel nails, Minx Nails), I have to say I am really not liking this matte look. What do you think? I wear black and other dark nail polishes a lot, and it just seems so weird if it’s black – I like it super shiny and glossy looking!

What about you? Do you like matte nails?

Why yes! A “Crazy or Cool” post! About time, no? I’ve missed them!

Anyway, pink hair is starting to get a little love from mainstream media, and I for one am thrilled! First, we have Lady Gaga on the cover of Vogue in a soft candy cotton pink wig (?), and now; up and coming, buzzed about model Charlotte Free (top right) is considered fashion’s newest rebel (since Kate Moss!) and is celebrated for her pink locks. (Can we also talk about her name?! ‘Free’ is a gorgeous surname.)

What do you think of pink hair? Would you ever sport it yourself? While I do love it (although I prefer soft, pastel pink as opposed to hot pink or brighter pinks), I don’t think I would ever try it myself. Maybe a clip-in streak, but nothing permanent. Still, I love it – so it’s a big COOL from me! What about you? :)

I admit it: Katy Perry is really starting to grow on me. Personally, her music is not my taste (they play ‘California Gurls’ so much here, it can get annoying!), but I can’t deny that she has such a fun, bubbly fashion sense.

And when Katy turned up to this year’s Video Music Awards with rainbow colored streaks, I couldn’t help but fall in love. Katy arrived on the red carpet with blue, pink and purple streaks in added into her dark hair that blended in so perfectly. I have to say, I love it! It looks really fun and girly. I know I’ve said I’ve found my perfect hairstyle, but I really want to buy some clip in streaks and try this look myself! I think I would add different shades of one color, so it’s rainbow slash pastel colored streaks.

What do you think of rainbow streaks like Katy’s? Crazy, cool or just plain childish? tI reminds me of clip in streaks when your a little girl, so I guess some might see it as being childish, but I love it. If you know where I can buy some clip in streaks, please do share. Thanks in advance!

Ugg Boots – Crazy or Cool?

October 20, 2010

You may be wondering what the heck I am doing wearing Ugg boots, because 1) I live in Singapore, which is a tropical island, and 2) you think Ugg boots are as big a fashion sin as Crocs. Which is fine, and me wearing Ugg boots is kinda crazy. However, I have to say I’ve been wanting to try them out for ages because they looks so freaking comfortable!

These ones I got are from Whooga, a fast-growing European boutique brand of Ugg boots. I jumped at the chance at trying them because like I said, I’ve always wanted to see what Ugg boots are like. And you know what? I love them. I probably won’t wear them out in public because it’s far too hot and ridiculous, but in the evenings and hanging out in my cold room (I blast the air-con all the time!), it’s absolutely perfect. My floor is wooden and gets very cold with the air-con, so the Uggs warm my feet – especially while I’m at my desk, where my feet freezes the most (my air-con is right above my desk). And I was right about one thing: they are so comfortable. Damn it feels good wearing them! I’ll definitely be bringing them when I go to Europe for sure, but for now, it’s my at-home comfy shoes.

What do you think of Ugg boots – do you love them or hate them? If you love them; even though I haven’t tried any other brands, I’d definitely recommend Whooga – super fast shipping, great prices and ridiculously comfy.
