Fashion sometimes is either genius or very, very weird. (Most of the time genius, though.) Some trend are awesome, some … a little bit out of the box, to say the least. “Crazy or Cool” this time around comes from the suggestion of Dip (thanks Dip!). She wanted to know what others think of the bleached eyebrow trend, and so do I!
Personally, I think this trend looks great in editorial and it’s very high fashion. It gives the most focus on the eyes, and the eye makeup can really stand out. Not to mention, the models look more intense and extreme – I love it. In real life though, I might think it’s a bit weird. I mean, eyebrows frame the face and gives so much expression, so and the person may look permanently surprised. So fashion; love it. Real life, not so much.
What do you think of the bleached eyebrow trend? Is this trend crazy or cool to you?

definitely too crazy for me ! It makes them look ill :/
Yes, and a little shocked!
For real life, I think your eyebrows add a lot to the personality to your face and bleaching them would be like making them invisible – so I think it’s too out there.
For fashion though, I think it interesting & definitely provides an eerie look.
I think “eerie” is the perfect word, Michaela! Eerie is good in fashion though, so I think it’s fine then… in real life it def is crazy, isn’t it?!
I think it’s crazy. Seeing the models with such light or missing brows makes me focus on the brows (or lack thereof) even more. I just look and wonder, “where did their brows go?!”
Tell me about it – but it does make you focus on the eyes, so I guess that’s the point in fashion? Not sure, Tyra Banks always goes on about eyes in ANTM, LOL! But yeah, real life: totally crazy.
I agree with you – nice for editorials, real life, not so much. I know if I bleached my eyebrows I would look like a zombie and my workmates would never let me hear the end of it (the joys of working with men haha).
Aw, I know what you mean. Well, sorta. My friend works with all guys and she says they have A LOT to tease about beauty, looks, etc, since she’s the only girl they can look at at work, haha!
I think eyes need eye-brows! That’s why they’re called EYE brows! Definitely crazy!
I have to agree, Ruth. I LOVE eyebrows, they frame the eyes and “compete” our facial features!
I agree with Michaela! I don’t think I could ever pull them off and I’m quite happy with mine as they are ;p
thanks for crediting me! i think they look cool if its like an alien-looking theme or whatever, for a photo shoot, but not for everyday.
I read in Kevyn Aucoin’s book that bleaching eyebrows is about giving face a softer look. But they ‘ve gone so overboard in these pictures that the models look like ailens. I’ve seen many fine examples of this makeup technique in Aucoin’s book, I think it is a great idea only if the makeup artist actually knows what he/she is doing.
I agree with Yasemin. When I first saw the title of this my mind went to Kevyn Aucoin’s book. In the early 90s I bleached my eyebrows and loved the look although it wasn’t quite as extreme as the above pictures. I also have very light skin and hair, including my eyebrows so it wasn’t a huge change for me. I got tired of trying to draw them in without them looking like they were done by a toddler with a sharpie. I ran across the book again this weekend and was actually considering doing it again. I had no idea it had become a trend again. I’m so trendy and didn’t even know it. HA
I’ve just bleached my eyebrows, and I think it’s a great, crazy-cool thing, because I can draw in so many new different brows now. You can always go over the hairs with an eyebrow pencil, too, if you want a more natural look.
