Review: Boi-ing Concealer by Benefit

April 24, 2008

benefit boi-ing concealer

When my beloved concealer from Clinique finished and I was too lazy to go to town and stock up, I dug around in an old makeup bag and found a pot of Boi-ing that I had hidden there ages ago. (It was pretty disgusting – the product is at least two years old and the top layer was crust.)

However, desperate times calls for desperate measures, and so I cleaned it up – especially the top layer of nastiness – and the rest of the concealer was as good as new.

Benefit claims that Boi-ing is the “world’s best concealer” and right now I would have to agree. It covers all color – whether it is dark circles, blemishes or discoloration- like a dream and is so easy to use (pat it on with your fingertips and you are good to go.)

One gripe I have with the product, however, is that Boi-ing is a little drying, so my advice is to warm it with your fingertips so the product is a little more “wet” and to pat it lightly on your skin, rather than rubbing in. Other than that, Boi-ing is a star product and I love it! Now if I can only figure out why it’s called Boi-ing…

Have you tried “the world’s best concealer”? What do you think of it?

Thanks for your comment, Butters :)

Sophie and Roxygirl, I highly reccommend it! It is a little expensive but you don’t need to use a lot each time, so the product lasts a while.

I’d recommend buying it online – it’s only USD$18 on their website, (don’t know about the shipping costs, though) while I got i for USD$30 here at the shops! :(

And thanks Sophie, good to be back! :D

As a redhead with very pale skin, their Light color is perfect. It covers flawlessy, this is a real good one. The only thing I can think of is that it is quite heavy. If you are covering blemeshes I think it will just make it worse because it’s so thick. But if you only use it for dark eye circles (like me. i got terrible ones!) this is a Godsent!

Stace – yes, so overpriced but I have had the same one for the past 2 years and it’s still not even half way done, so I think it’s quite worth the price!

Juliana – I agree that it could make zits worse, but I haven’t had any problems yet. I had a massive zit once and Boi-ing was the only thing to cover it, and it went away eventually, so I don’t think Boi-ing did any harm. It could be different for others though!

Oh and it covers redness and discoloration extremely well, too!

I only use this, my favourite concealer in the world. I’d highly recommend it too! (:

This is really great, but you gotta circle it a bit to make the product smooth, like you said warm it up. Other than that it’s a great concealer, hope it works for everyone too!

This is really not the best product many people says it to be. It is not a good concealer for cold climates, or you will have to warm it before you apply. If you apply too much, it will look cakey and attract attention to your wrinkles. Coverage is average, pretty good, but only lasts 4 HOURS!! Move onto a different product.

I have to agree that this is drying, that’s why I did say to warm it up beforehand so it goes on a little smoother. I also can imagine it would dry out and look cakey in colder climates, so I’m sorry it didn’t work out for you! :( Have you found a concealer you liked that suited the colder weather?

Boi-nnng (spelled miserably, cause I’m too lazy-pants to go get it right now) is great. I get loads of breakouts. I’m 46. I’m working on it, but they happen. This concealer uses so little, that even on my pizza face it lasts a long time and never looks like I stuck stucco on my face. I blend well and use it over my foundation. It’s right up there with MAC Studio Sculpt Concealer, only it hides zits better, especially if I’ve messed with them. No lectures, I know I’m a terrible person for touching a zit.

Hi there,
is Boi Ing on the pink side or on the yellow side? I’m NC20 and I would use it to cover both dark cyrcles and T-zone blemish or imperfections.
Many thanks =)

Hey Marianna! Boiing is more on the yellow side. At least, the lightest shade, 01 is, which is the one I reviewed. I’m not sure about 02 and 03 but from what I can remember 02 is more to the peach side, like the picture above… so I think it depends what you’d like. :D

Yes, I’m interested in 01 shade! So, do you think it will be suitable for a conbination skin with oily T-zone? Thanks again! ;)

Sure, it’s a really great concealer so it will def cover up pretty much anything. It also dries quite matte, though I would still recommend dusting some loose powder over it to ‘set’ it. However, the formula is really thick (which is why it’s so great for covering) but it can clog pores, especially if you’re concealing zits. :(

Hey Naff… that image above was their old packaging. :) They have the new one with the screw top, like you said. I think I like the old packaging better, though :(
