First Look: Bellabox Singapore

January 22, 2012

Bellabox Singapore

Beauty box subscriptions are popping around in Singapore, and Bellabox was the first! (Don’t you love originals?!) I was given a box to try, and to be honest – I already loved it when I saw the box. Talk about chic!

Bellabox Singapore

Bellabox is also the cheapest option in the market, and for $15 a month you will get a beautiful box delivered to your home filled with 4-5 beauty samples. I met with the founder, Emily (and her adorable office dog!) and we were talking about how boring the beauty scene can get with the same old brands, and our love for discovering cute little indie brands. She said that her vision for Bellabox is to introduce new, cult and niche brands to the market, so I’m really excited!

For the January 2012 box, Bellabox introduced a new, smaller, sleeker box, which as you can already tell, I am in love with! Each month, Emily will curate a box with a “theme”, and this month’s theme was “A New Year, A New You”, so it included a lot of skincare and organic options. This included a lip balm from Pangea Organics, Dr. Jart BB Cream, Belif Hydro Sebum Control Serum (we all know we need it in Singapore’s hot weather), Dr. Dennis Gross Extra Strength Alpha Beta Peel, and Herban Essentials Lemon Towelette.

Overall, I thought that my first experience with Bellabox was great. The whole experience of receiving such a beautiful box (I don’t care what anyone says, packaging is a BIG factor for me), and being all excited to see what was inside… awesome! Also, for $15 a month it’s really affordable. My favorite in the box so far is the Dr. Jart BB Cream (I know I’ve said that the Bobbi Brown BB Cream is my absolute fave, but Dr. Jart has been hailed as the one “who started it all”, so I’m excited to see what it’s like), and the lip balm from Pangea Organics – it has already replaced my beloved Rosebud lip balm in my handbag!

Have you tried Bellabox? What do you think? And what do you think of beauty box subscriptions? I can’t believe my BFF Christine and I have been doing this for years (sending each other boxes of beauty samples), and now it’s such a popular business concept!

What a nice concept! You mentioned there are other subscription services, what are they?

Isn’t it? :D The other one I haven’t tried out yet is Glamabox, it was started by Lisa S, a really popular model/host in Asia.

Hey dear, I’m quite interested with this. Is the product good? More of skin care or make up?

Yup, love it! I am not sure, this was my first time trying it, it’s normally a mix of all beauty stuff, so skincare, hair, makeup, etc.

I was pretty disappointed with the dr jart bb cream, honestly. I don’t know if I’m just too tan, but the bb cream did not oxidise to my skin tone even after a whole day. And I looked white as sheet for the whole day:/ other than that I guess the box was okay, but not really what I expected, as I said on my blog. That beig said, I might still subscribe to bellabox au when I get back to Perth!

Oh no! That’s a shame. BB Creams tend to be white so it’s not that fair for people with darker skin. :/

My friend subscribes in Aus and she says it’s fantastic, so if you do, please let me know! I wish I could subscribe to all of them from around the world. :-P GlossyBox UK looks amazing!

Yeah I’ll definitely let you know if I do subscribe to the Aussie one! I’ve read some pretty good reviews so I’m really excited! Ooh I do have to check out GlossyBox UK. If only to drool all over their porducts.

Hopefully the BB cream works for you though!

Oooh <3 I recently subscribed to one here in the us launched my Michelle Phan and im excited to receive ^_^

(I know this is off topic but I'm new to using makeup and I was wondering if you could recommend any good pressed powers to use as foundation. I don't have alot to cover so I want light-medium coverage. I been using Skin79 VIP Gold for a while and I love it but it gives off a dewy finish and has spf 25 but I want something Matte and not too much spf cause its not good for photography, I wouldnt want my face ghost white in pictures hahha. I'm looking for a good matte powder, cause prom is coming up.. :3 I've heard good things about Smashbox Halo, Laura Mercier Mineral Pressed Powder, and MUFE Duo Mat Powder Foundation but i dont know which to choose. I'm planning to go to Sephora soon to check them out but I'm wondering if you have any others you would recommend and also if you have any tip for Prom heheh )

Thank you for reading, love your blog btw <3
