A reader suggested if I could do a Q&A session on Beauty Fool, and I think that would be a great idea! I’m sure many have beauty questions they are too afraid to ask (use a pseudonym if you’re shy!) and this will be a great way for me to help. Also, if you’re just curious about some other things, here’s your chance. So ask away – I’m ready! If this goes well maybe this can be a semi-regular feature, if you’d like.
Have a great weekend, everyone. The only thing I have in mind this weekend is, you guessed it – ice cream!

What made you wanna set up this site?
Hey XinHwee! Ooh, my love for writing! I also like to create and having my own ‘thing’ to call my own, I guess an entrepreneur is somewhere inside me! But most of all it’s for the writing, then I thought what I like to write about … and it was beauty and whatnot!
I’m crap at thinking up questions, but I just wanted to say: mmmm ice-cream
Ice cweam rocks. ‘Nuff said
If you could live in any fantasy universe (meaning everything from Pandora in Avatar to gossip girls Manhattan) where would you live?
Ooh good one, Johanna! Umm a beach paradise, or a castle somewhere in Italy. Actually I’m leaning more in Italy, I adore that place! I’d love to live there.
You’re cheating.
Has to be from a “fantasy world” like Harry Potter for instance.
Haha oooh ok! Sorry! Umm… OK Pandora in Avatar! It looks pretty haha.
Although they are kinda strange… is it just me or did they have some sort of ponytail sex?! What in the world was that???!?! O_O
I am 24 and am lossing a lot of hair. Any advice?
I love this website!
Hey Miss Sad, thanks so much!
Aw.
I think you may want to see a doctor to rule out any health issues, esp it you think you may have any other symptoms. If not, it could just be unlucky genes, which then you’d need to have a look into hair loss products. I also know of someone who is taking natural pills for hair loss… could be another option.
I’m sorry this is happening to you
Wish you all the best.
you mention in ur previuous post that we should apply moisturizer within 1 min? what about toner? thanks
)
Hey Melinda!
Hmm I’d actually won’t recommend toner because they strip the skin of the moisture and oils. I used to use them myself but stopped a few years ago. But if you do use them, then I guess you don’t really need to listen to that post on moisturizer (’cause it’s all about keeping the moisture in, whereas toner takes it away – so no point!). So whenever you apply your toner, just make sure to apply your moisturizer immediately!
oh yes i heard about what toner can do to our moisture but i think is quite impt for keeping the pore close? so that it won’t be so visible ? hope i am right. IF NOT CORRECT ME! having bad skin -.-”
Pores can’t open or close… so their claim to close or shrink pores is completely rubbish! I’m sure they are exceptions though, but generally it’s not needed. :/ And it’s not good if you have bad skin ’cause most of the time it’s just filled with alcohol! So my advice is to ditch toner! I did some years ago and have never looked back!
OH MAN! you gave a second thoughts of ditching toner. BUT I BOUGHT MY TONER FROM CLARINS! and they claim to have no alcohol~ i totally know what alcohol could do to my already bad skin -.-
Oh , I seriously think you should make a youtube channel!
Ah hey Sarah! OK, I’ve had a lot of requests for that… soon, once I stop being so camera shy, haha! Promise I’ll get it done – just a matter of when!
hey renee, love the blog
do you have any drugstore liquid eyeliners you recommend? also, do you ever wing out your liquid eyeliner? how do you make them even?
thanks
Thanks Jin!
Unfortunately I haven’t tried any drugstore liquid liners yet… I’ve only tried two so far by MAC and Chanel (and they are amazing) but not drugstore yet. So sorry
And yes, sometimes I do wing them out. The trick is to do it on one eye, take a step back from the mirror and look at what you’ve done. Make a mental image of where the wing should hit, put a dot of liner there and look again in the mirror. If it’s fine, then do your wing to join the dot. However, the way I do is it that I estimate 45 degrees from the corner of my eye and that seems to work well for me… I think it’s more getting used to your eye shape, but practice makes perfect!
Hi Renee! I love the picture for this post, so cute!
What are your favorite nail polish colors & lip stick colors?
Hey Michaela! I love the pic too. Hmmm… ice cream
I love grays for nail polish and have been wearing black since I can remember! So definitely dark colors… my favorite brands so far are really nothing special, I usually use Revlon and Sally Hansen, I think they are great, especially Sally Hansen! Of course I’ve tried OPI and they are amazing, but there’s no way I’m spending so much money on nail polishes! :/
Lipstick colors, I like reds, corals and oranges the best, I think they suit me ’cause I have yellow undertones since I’m half Asian… so definitely warm colors. My favorite lipsticks are from MAC and Bobbi Brown does great ones as well!
Hope I’ve helped
whats the BEST foundation you’ve ever used? do you wear foundation every day? i still haven’t find the perfect foundation :/
Hey Dip! I don’t wear foundation everyday, but when I do do makeup I used tinted moisturizer by Laura Mercier, simply AMAZING. I have tried Teint Miracle from Lancome and it too is fantastic, very very impressed by the way it makes your skin look radiant. Both those are probably in the light-medium coverage range though, so if you have problem skin it might not cover enough. When I had acne I used Clinique’s Perfectly Real foundation and it was very good, although I used that over 5 years ago so I’m not sure if it’s good anymore! But I most definitely recommend Lancome’s Teint Miracle and Laura Mercier’s tinted moisturizer. I have heard that Giorgio Armani’s foundations are world class and excellent, but haven’t gotten the chance to try it out yet!
If you are looking for the perfect one I def suggest Laura Mercier… I heard their foundation is also good, and judging by their tinted moisturizer, I believe it!
Let me know if you need anymore help!
hey there!! =) Its my first time here…and i cannot believe how can i not know this website, coz there are lots of good tips here!! anyways…do you have any recommendation for a good yet affordable moisturizer?
Hey Sha! Welcome!
Cetaphil worked well when I reviewed it sometime back! Very gentle to the skin, as well
are you an only child?
Yes! How did you guess
Hey Renee!
I’ve always had really long hair and I want to get a haircut (both because of my split ends and just for a change) and was thinking about getting bangs… but I’m nervous. Any suggestions that aren’t too drastic?
Do it! I too was scared but I took the plunge recently and am obsessed with my shorter hair. Just cutting off a few inches, in your case, will make a huge difference and your hair will looks so much healthy! As for bangs… try a long side-swept bang. They suit almost every face shape and if you don’t like it, you can always tuck it behind your ear, and it will grow out very fast because it’s already quite long
How did your website become so popular so fast? O.o I am amazed and slightly jealous… (:
Aw thanks Kich! Umm, you know I’m not very sure… is it even popular? Haha! My hope is that I just wrote what I loved and slowly people found it and liked, so they kept coming back?
May i know your height ? please
Hey Shoot! I’m 5’9″
LUCKY (:
What does HG stand for? I can’t figure it out although i keep seeing it!
Holy Grail, like grail product you really love.
Thanks, Johanna! Yup, HG stands for Holy Grail, like your “it” product that is your favorite or whatever. For example… “my HG mascara is Maybelline Great Lash”, etc.
Are you Singaporean?
Yup!
Hey there,
can i know what is the difference between moisturizer and sunscreen? im currently using a moisturizer with spf 15. (>.<)
so does sunscreen means sun block or moisturizer? haha! im very clueless. (O.O?)
Sunscreen means sunblock… and moisturizer means moisturizer. However moisturizer can have SPF, which doesn’t make it a sunblock, but is still better than moisturizers with no SPF. Haha. Get it?
Kinda confusing, I know, but I think you’re on the right path! The best, for your skin, though is to use them both separately as the SPF in moisturizers are quite low.
Can you use the instyler rotationg iron on wet hair???
My goodness! my first time finding THIS article! of course had I known this was here earlier, i would have posted a thouuusand questions by now! but to save your precious time, i’ll just tell you, I found your website by accident, oh, three, four months ago? and i think i’ve pretty much gone through 74% of your articles. I find your tips amazing, useful, very explanatory, and your tasteful use of language to be sweet. You specifically have inspired me, though i can’t say i know why. maybe because we’re both of the same religion, and both vegetarians, and both share a love for writing? You just seem like somebody I would love to befriend. I wish you the best of luck with this site and although I can probably never post another comment again (I believe i’ll be too shy, which is fine) I can promise you that I’ll be here until the end, enjoying the advice and empathy you give out. Sincerely, Hannah.
Haha, check the ingredient list. Most probably alcohol… Anyway, just use that last bottle and after that, ditch the toner!
