How high-maintenance are you?
I don’t think I’m that high maintenance. But, if I’m going to an event, I have an hour-and-a-half of hair and makeup.

I probably spend about that!
Maybe it’s two hours… I can’t sit still for any longer than that.

So what’s your beauty routine like if you’re not working?
I’m quite comfortable not wearing any makeup at all. Often, if I’m in New York in the summer, I won’t wear any – it’s so hot. But if I go out at night, I’ll do black eyeliner or brown pencil.

And what are your favorite products? Any black eyeliner tips?
MAC Teddy Eye Kohl is a nice brown liner pencil, and Chanel does a liquid liner I really like, or Bobbi Brown’s gel one in a pot.

Your skin looks amazing – are you wearing foundation? (It’s so not fair!)
Thank you! But yes, I am wearing base now – Kevin, my makeup artist, very kindly applied it for me. But generally, I just use tinted moisturizer. I like the Laura Mercier one.

And what about skincare?
I’m a bit rubbish. I often forget to take my makeup off at the end of an evening.

Then how does it look so good?!
I don’t know. Don’t get angry with me! I moisturize quite a lot – Weleda do really nice baby moisturizers. I slather them on. Decleor do really nice oils, too. Sometimes I like to pretend I’m working in a chemist and just mix them all together, doing my own scientific blend!

What about facials?
No, nothing. I don’t think I’d be comfortable saying, “Oh I’m going off for a facial”. I’m not really that kind of girl!

Very low maintenance for a celebrity! And how do you stay so slim?
I walk a lot, but I don’t run. I try not to run simply because I look like an idiot.

So you don’t do any formal exercise?
No, it’s quite bad, isn’t it? I should condone healthy living. I have to walk around quite a bit, though, cos sometimes I get too hyper!

Do you always eat healthily?
No, today I had a chip sandwich. But the foods I like tend to be healthy – I don’t have a cuzzer every night!

Now, I know you get your hair done by George Northwood at Daniel Hersheson. Does he help you choose your look?
Definitely – and now I’m in New york, we sort of plan things long-term.

So you don’t see anyone else?
No, I’m really weird about it – it really annoys other hairdressers doing my hair on shoots. I can’t have properly long hair, though, cos I have quite a long ‘horse’ face and it sort of turns a bit. I look better with short hair.

Would you ever go for a proper crop?
No, I’ve got two brothers and I might look like one of them. I don’t want to out-man my brothers and embarrass them.

How about going blonde?
I think I would looks weird – like a Chinese blonde lady. I’m a big fan of the fake root, though.

So have you picked up good makeup skills since becoming a superstar?
Um, Kevin taught me how to mix a nice lip color. And, recently I’ve gotten into single eyelashes. I can just about manage them but I’m bad at strips.

What’s the most expensive beauty product you’ve got?
What’s that thing I got given the other day – caviar cream or something?

La Prairie?
that’s the one. I used it yesterday – it’s very nice. Generally, I use basic stuff.

What do you think of Alexa’s choices in beauty products – are there some you agree with? I have to say I completely agree on her choice of Chanel liquid liner and Laura Mercier’s tinted moisturizer.
