A Super Simple Makeup Tip: Lipstick Used As Blush

September 2, 2010

It’s your favorite time of the week! ;) OK, maybe not, but I really like writing the Beauty Tip of the Week posts because it means it’s a Thursday – and the weekend is just one day away!

This week’s tip is super simple. If you’ve run out of blush (shocker! horror!), walk, don’t run to your closest pink or peach lipstick (dark colors like reds, purples and browns won’t work with this tip). All you need to do is rub a cotton ball over your lipstick, and pat some on the apple of your cheeks – not too much, or you’ll be needing this blush tip.

Next, use your middle and ring finger to blend the lipstick on your cheeks and follow your cheekbone up to a little before your earlobes. Keep it light handed and remember to blend. Voila, your very own cream blush.

Have you tried this makeup trick before? How did it work for you? Those who are acne-prone may want to skip this trick though, as the oils from the lipstick may cause breakouts.

I’ve tried it one and it looked really great but I too am prone to breakouts so I didn’t do it after that one time… but it definitely works! :D

That’s a great tip! I keep buying lipstick even though I almost never use them (I prefer lipglosses as they’re easier and quicker to apply) so I know what to do with them. Thanks!

I’ve always done this! :) I like that the colours on your cheek and your lips are the same, it looks really natural. Nice tip! :)

When I was younger, my mum used to use red lipstick as my blush whenever I had a dance recital :)
